Rattle in back
Rattle in back
I have a rattle coming from the rear that sounds like the rear tail gate isn't latched. Dealer heard the noise and replaced the left rear shock assembly and now the noise is back, louder than ever. Is this the noise everyone describes as a "clunk" or is this something else. Happens at lower speeds over slightly bumpy roads.
Its hard to state for sure as we can't hear the sound but I would be 95% sure that this is the problem that many of us have been reporting as that "thump/thud" from the rear suspension. This is not only affecting the RDX but also the ILX and now I see that the RLX is not free of its own suspension noise (although its not the same issue)....doesn't bode well for the TLX.
In any event, you can take it to the dealer but there is little they will be able to do....I am not sure why but Acura seems to think that replacing a faulty designed part by the same part will solve the problem!
If I use a pick up line and get slapped in the face, trust me, I will not use it again! Wake up Acura! Maybe someone there needs a slap in the face!!

I also hear a rattle coming from the back tailgate when I open or close it. It sounds like a bolt or a nut that's loose in the door and moving around when I open and close the tailgate. Anybody else have this problem?

Check your license plate...ours does that too...it's the plate rattling.
Found the problem. After removing the license plate I used an extendible magnet to remove a screw that was in the tailgate. It was the same screw that holds the license plate so it was probably dropped by the salesman while he put my plate on the car.
We just had this problem fixed today on our 2014 RDX.
My wife brought it in to the dealer for an oil change last week and I told her to mention that it sounded like the rear hatch was not properly closed. Every time we went over a bump it would bang. The dealership told her to bring it back today and leave it all day for them. They gave her a spare to drive.
They fixed it. What a difference! They replaced the left rear "Damper/Shock Absorber Assembly and aligned it. Part # 52610-TX4-A02 - no charge.
The car has 17,500 miles on it and the problem started about 3,000 miles ago.
FYI - If you're hearing something similar, get it in to the service dept. I wish I brought it in sooner, that noise was driving me nuts. i like the car much better now.
