My daughter is visiting from out-of-town, and as I was looking at her RDX, I noticed a coating of oil in engine bay...like oil was sprayed on top, but no apparent leak or puddling. Oil level OK. 6K miles. Any ideas? Help!

 

did she have an oil change done recently? Or any other work? Did she drive in a very wet area and get lots of splashup that could have gone inside the engine bay (could have been oil in the water that splashed up). If none of that happened, then make sure it's not another type of fluid (tranny, brake)..... Hard to tell sometimes where the source was.

 

Oil service last month. All fluids OK (oil actually high), and everywhere clean except top surfaces of engine bay.

 

There is your problem. You need to go to the dealer and have them remove the excess oil.

Overfilling can cause catalytic converter failure along with the symptoms that you've described.
