newbie says hello and has a problem
Hi folks:
My buddy just purchased an 2014 RDX and he has installed winter tires and rims. These are not oem and in fact are 1 inch smaller than the oem tires and rims. He replaced the sensors and the system is not resetting itself as it is supposed to.
Has anyone had any experience with this issue?
Thanks Doug

Sorry I should have mentioned this. The sensors are not oem. My buddy purchased the sensors from the same retailer who sold him the tires and rims. The tires and rims were originally sold to him for his 2011 RDX. When he bought the 2014, he went back to the tire retailer who told him he would need new sensors which he purchased.

Thanks for the input Justnspace. My buddie's 2011 RDX had aftermarket sensors and they worked just fine. The same tire retailer sold him the new sensors for the 2014 RDX, and he says they'll work...but obviously there is an issue somewhere. Any thoughts on why the 2014 would be different?
Thanks Doug

All new system.
in prior Acura's(I have a 2006 TL) we can interchange vehicle model TPMS and be fine. we can even use aftermarket TPMS and be fine.
it started with the 2nd gen TSX and 4th gen TL. these two vehicles were the first to get the new TPMS systems. they need their respective TPMS to function.
the 1st gen RDX was a 2008 vehicle and still using the old system, along with my 2006 TL.
these new cars need their respective TPMS or else you'll get warnings on the dash and will even disable important safety features.
