Lost power & engine light blinking after using paddle shifters on freeway

Bought a 2014 RDX AWD Tech Pkg. a year ago. Twice I’ve experienced a power loss after using paddle shifters on the freeway. Engine light was also blinking. Took exit and turned off the car. Apparently it “reset” whatever the problem was and the car behaved normally after that. Anyone have a clue what’s happening? I like to use paddle shifters to maneuver around slow moving traffic. If traffic is really thick, sometimes I use sport mode with paddle shifting. Thanks

When's the last time you got an oil change?

I recommend getting a cheap OBD scanner with bluetooth (roughly $20 on Amazon) and using Torque or similar app on your phone and getting the error code.

Oh and welcome!

Blinking check engine light usually means an cylinder misfire is occurring.

First place is to check your battery connection. If it is happening during hard acceleration, possible that your battery connection is loose and the hard accel is rocking the battery around and contact with the terminals is lost.

Welcome to AZ! I moved your thread to the 2G RDX section, where you will get answers from other owners. I agree with the advice already given, though!

Thank you for your replies and for moving my thread. I changed the oil on schedule per the car’s alert system; right now oil has 40% life. I’ll check the battery connections and come back with a post. When the power loss is happening it feels different from when I’m in too high a gear... it IS more like it’s “misfiring” ...
