Lighting up like a Christmas tree
Lighting up like a Christmas tree
I had quite a few lights coming on every time I drove my 2014 RDX. Some of them were check braking system, check hill assist, check vsa system. I took it to two mechanics and neither could find out what the problem was. Lastly, I went to Acura. They scanned charged me $150 and told me it was one of the rear wheel speed sensors. They wanted $550 to replace including parts and labour ($50 part). As this is an easy install I bought the part and replaced myself. The lights stayed off for one week and now come back on intermittently. I called Acura back and they checked file and confirmed that based on their assessment it was only the wheel speed sensor, not the bearing or anything else. If worse comes to worse I guess I will have to take it to them, but appreciate any advice. On anything else I could possibly check myself. Thanks.

My wife had a problem similar to that and it was intermittant. During the start cycle if you lift your foot OFF the brake pedal too soon it will light the dash panel like a Christmas tree. Error messages will pop up there that I had not seen before but the car would run fine.

I have a problem similar to that described by Sketty. I can add some information about my particular problem. 3 years ago, I installed a Viofo front and rear camera set. There weren't any complications. Today, I replaced the cameras (and the wires, because the power lines are a thicker gauge, and all connections are now USB-C.) Ordinarily, I would take a picture before I start, but the three electrical connections were identical, so I simply replaced one at a time with the new wire; pretty hard to screw up. And it worked fine; the new cameras work just as they are supposed to.
As I was feeling around down at the internal fuse box, without any wires or tools in my hand, two times my hatch door opened without any input from me (as far as I know.) After the first time, I took my keyfob out of my pocket, because I have had buttons pushed from external pressure while just being in my pants. It happened a second time. Then I moved my hands around purposefully, around the grounding screw particularly -- and it opened a third time. So, not wanting to deal with that mystery, I went under the hood and removed the battery cables. I then cleaned them both, but left them unhooked.
After I got the cameras and front camera wiring installed, I hooked the battery back up. When I opened the door, the door dinger started dinging; the kind of sound it makes when you leave the door open. Except that the engine wasn't running, nor was the ACC or 'On' position active. When I started the car, I got the same kind of warnings as Sketty: CHECK POWER STEERING SYSTEM, CHECK VSA SYSTEM, CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM, CHECK HILL START ASSIST SYSTEM. I don't believe there is any sort of problem with any of those systems; I know for sure the power steering system is fine, since I drove around a few miles. One other thing I noticed is that the manual door lock doesn't engage, but it will lock (and unlock) after I have exited the car, using the fob. It also unlocks properly when I put my hand near the door sensor.
After this all happened, I came inside and looked for clues here and on youtube. I didn't find anything that seemed likely, and went back out. After I finished connecting the rear camera wiring, I started the car. All the warnings were gone, and everything was perfectly normal. I drove around a few miles, putting camera data on my microSDXC card, and was quite happy that the gremlin had gone away. Then I parked the car and turned it off. The camera stayed on and the door dinged when I opened it.
I do intend to look at the fuse box closely, and pull each fuse if need be. But the camera works exactly as it should (except retaining power when the key is off), so I don't think it is what I changed. Anyway, I am convinced it is something I did wrong, or failed to do right, but I can't seem to figure out what it is. Sigh. Thanks for reading!

Recently I was found guilty in court of being egotistical. I am appealing.
I have not had any sort of brake problem, and I simply can't believe that this is a rear wheel speed sensor which coincidentally went out while parked, when I happened to change those three wires.
