Instrument Panel - Anyone can do me a favor?
Hi,
I have a 2014 RDX with Tech Package. Recently, I noticed that there is a gap between the instrument panel and the upper dashboard. I'm a little bit surprised that this happens on an Acura. The gap is not that big, it is about 1/8 of an inch. But it is definitely noticeable. I don't think it is the way it should be, but can anyone check your RDX to confirm it. I really appreciate for your help!

To be more clear about what I'm talking about, see the picture, it is the upper instrument panel. I believe the whole instrument panel should connect with the soft dashboard. But mine has a gap in between. Anyone can do me a favor and check yours? I really appreciate your help!

The trim ring that covers the gap between the clear plastic face of the instrument cluster and the bottom of the upper dash pad is not properly installed. It should fit snugly against the bottom of the dash pad with no gap. There is a small plastic clip at the top of the trim ring that should snap into a hole. Try pushing the top of the trim ring upward and see if it will seat into the hole. If not, take it to the dealer. There is another thread on this forum on exactly the same issue. That OP could not get his to move so he took it to the dealer.

Mine has a similar gap. But from the driving position, the top of the steering wheel blocks it from direct view, so it's not such an issue for me. Please let us know if the dealer offers to do anything about it.

I’m in Maryland and this just happened to my 2013 RDX. Since this occurred in the summer, I blame Acura for using cheap materials in a $40K vehicle. It appeared to me that the upper soft hood expanded more under heat than the lower rigid plastic so they partially separated from each other. I pushed the two together and the gap became smaller for now. Not very confident that they won’t separate again. I just can’t imagine what kind of crap materials they would put in cheaper Honda vehicles these days, sigh.
