Hi, I have a 2017 RDX and am looking for the method to do an idle re-learn process.
I've tried the search method and came up empty.
I've gone through every page in the Factory Service Manual Requests and came up empty.
Lots of YouTube videos out there but I don't trust them.....
Anyone?
Thanks....

The procedure below was taken from the Acura Service Bulletin 12-009 below.
Give it a try and see if it works?
Do the Idle Learn Procedure
To avoid an erratic idle, do the idle learn procedure
after you install the No. 29 fuse.
NOTE: Idle speed adjustment is done by the PCM;
there is no adjustment screw.
1. Make sure all electrical items (A/C, radio, rear
window defogger, lights, etc.) are off.
2. Start the engine, and let it reach operating
temperature (the cooling fans cycle twice).
3. Let the engine idle for 10 minutes with the throttle
closed.
The idle learn procedure must also be done after
updating or replacing the PCM. It does not need to be
done after you clear DTCs.
Thanks for this! I'll give it a try.
A question regarding the #29 fuse... it's a 10 amp Back Up fuse.
Would I disconnect it first then plug it back in?

Just curious, is there a particular reason, currently, that you need to perform the idle relearn?
Like changing the battery or something?
Or do you just want to have this in reserve just in case you need it?
With that said, look at the top left of page two on the service bulletin.
It appears, from the below, that fuses 28 & 29 are removed & stored in an effort to keep the battery from draining during a lengthy shipping / storage process.
They (fuses) are only retrieved and reinstalled when the vehicle is prepared for sale; therefore, yours should not need disconnecting unless the idle is currently fluctuating?
That way the engine computer would start with a fresh idle relearn.
That is why idle relearn is recommended when battery power is disconnected in the first place.
Thanks!
I've been having a problem with a "not all the time" high idle, noticeably on the Average Fuel usage indicator as well as noting that the car is slow to idle when decelerating..
For example, when going down my hilly driveway, sometimes the fuel indicator will show high usage and only go to zero when I stop. Other times, when decelerating before a corner, the indicator will show 3-5 bars... very noticeable as the car doesn't feel like it's decelerating properly. The other trait is my fuel consumption has risen by about 10-15%.
I also changed out the battery for a new one as the old one finally gave up.
I'm just looking for a simple solution to hopefully correct the issue before taking it to the dealer. (I talked to the dealer a while back, but only to the service desk. I wasn't able to talk to a mechanic which would've been ideal, but the service desk only response was they'll have to keep the car for a few days to see what the issue is.)
I just now see you attached a pdf file... didn't notice this before. Thanks!!
After reading the file, it all makes sense now.

Understood.
The reason why the YT videos seem sketchy is because there are various idle relearn methods through the years.
My 2G 2003 CL-S six speed is less sophisticated because it is non-drive by wire and the throttle body is cable actuated.
When I perform idle learn, subsequent to battery power disconnect / reconnect, I just start the car and let it idle for three fan cycles & it is perfect.
Yet, the cars FSM states to do it as shown below, which is in fact, the idle relearn procedure for a 3G 07-08 TL that has a drive by wire throttle body.
If you review some of the YT videos for even later Acura/Honda models it is similar, though.
Either disconnect the negative battery cable or the appropriate fuses to sever power, reestablish power & then follow the above OR the provided process in the service bulletin. Hopefully you will find better performance.
Thanks! Taking a short break from shoveling./plowing snow. I'll try the first method later today and if that doesn't work I'll try the longer method tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
