How to Adjust Rear Seat Release Cable Tension?

I have confirmed that the cable attached to the lever that puts left rear seat down is stretched... Is there a way to adjust tension? Do I need to remove the panel in the picture? If so how? I'm terrible with interior trims and don't want to break anything. Service manuals, videos or instructions are appreciated!

Model: 2014 ACURA RDX

This cable does not stretch, most likely the plastic limiter has flown off its mount.

There is also an adjustment under the plastic on the side of the door, to access it you need to remove the lower seat and unscrew the bolt

Huge thanks. Is the plastic limiter located on the back of the pull handle?

I'm also not sure if I understand what to remove. What do you mean by "lower seat"? Is it a panel? Where exactly is it located? It was also not very apparent (for my dumb ass) how to adjust the thing from your last picture.

Sorry for being a noob. But could you elaborate?

Try the easy part first, this is the adjustment. Remove the seat, plastic trim and try adjusting the cable with the pink clip.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to disassemble the entire trunk and remove the sidewalls.

Some clarification

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to add some details for the adjustment of the seat release cable. Perform these steps if the release handle in the trunk area fails to release the back seat (either side of the car)

- To remove the back seat to get access to the side panel trim piece, watch this video:

- Under the seat area, closer to the rear door, you will see a 10mm hex bolt holding down the plastic trim piece in place. That's the trim piece that covers the lower end of the C-Pillar. Remove the bolt and remove the plastic trim piece and you will see the adjustment mechanism along with some other cables.
- There is a pink placeholder that locks the worm gear in place by engaging into its grooves. With a small flat end screwdriver push the pink placeholder up and it will release the worm gear so that you can adjust it. Don't try to remove it completely as it won't come off unless you break it.
- To tighten the cable you need to push the worm gear upwards, so that less of its threads show up from the bottom end of the adjustment mechanism. You only need to adjust for one or two threads. While holding the gear in that position, push the pink placeholder back into its locked position.
- Test the release handle and see if it now releases the seat back. If so you're done, if not, repeat the adjustment procedure above until you reach the desired result.

Here's a picture showing how to release the pink placeholder:

If none of the above helps, you may have another problem, perhaps with a broken piece, especially if the release handle on top of the seatback also fails to release the seat.
