and what was the purpose of this question!?
i believe you referring to the temperature gauge inside the car.
Why not post what yours is at, so that others can confirm that your car isnt over heating.

because, its probably not over heating.
unless the needle on your gauge is all the way at the top!!!

not engine temp .. I was referring to the outside temp measurement that is displayed on the display... that seems to be high by around 8F than what local weather stations report (cross ref with three and its high - checked this across diff locations and its high)

The manual shows you how to adjust the outside temp reading.

Also, note that the temp measurement is based on a monitor in the front bumper which may register differently than the weather balloons etc due to exhaust from other cars, heat buildup on the road, hotter metal around it etc.

My outside thermometer also reads high...by about 8 degrees Fahrenheit. I adjusted it using the "Customize" screen, but can only back it down 5 degrees. I've never checked the inside one, but it doesn't seem to be a problem to me.

Mine seems to be right on. But, using what a radio guy says or what the bank sign shows is useless. And when the car sits in the sun, it will show a high temperature until you start driving and get some air flow.

Good luck, Jim

Mine is also a couple of degrees too high (2C or so) and I have a reliable source of where I get my information from *lmao*

Hey weather, you know and I know that temperatures can vary by 3-4 Deg F or more in a very short distance. Things like asphalt versus grass surface, buildings versus trees around, etc. significantly affect the measured temperature at any location.

I am no weather man, but the only way to verify the accuracy of the RDX temperature gauge would be to compare it to a calibrated temperature gauge at the same location, same conditions, (not in sun, same wind exposure, etc).

Regards, Jim

^^^ You my friend are EXACTLY correct! I never liked forecasting a single value because as you said, over an area, air temp will vary greatly (sea breeze, topography effects etc).

The way I very mine is to bring my vehicle as close to one of the observing station we have at our Forecast Center and then get one of the tech to give me the instantaneous reading at the time.

That being said, I would never use my RDX to determine precipitation phase change or hang my forecast on...It is mainly there for entertainment value only

Good points though.

I think there is something wrong with the outside temperature gauge on this model. When I first start the car it's about 30 degree too high, then it slowly comes down to about 4 degrees high of what it really is outside. This takes like 5 minutes. My old 07 RDX did not have this problem. I'm going to have this checked out.

You should have your dealer check it out. I don't have that problem on mine. Cold start or moving it is fairly accurate. Sitting in traffic or restarting a hot engine it will read high due to the engine heat but it comes back down once you get moving.

I had my '13 RDX and '03 MDX sitting together, both cold from sitting over night, I got in both started them up and checked the outside temps, the MDX read 0C and the RDX read 8C. Somethings up. I have trusted the temp from my MDX for 7 years.

I have only had my RDX for a month but notice the odd temps for the outsde temperature. Figured it was something that I would wait and see on but it looks like a problem with this model. I'll watch to see what you are finding out at the dealer.

Any dealership feedback yet? Today our RDX displayed 73F when it actually in the 20s outside! It took about 5min if driving to get close to normal.

Just remember, the media weather-guessers all get their info from the National Weather Service and are free to misinterpret it any way they see fit.

If I may repeat a story, back in the '80s, I had a Subie GL 4wd wagon with the all-new digital dash. Had the outside temp readout in the instrument cluster. One sales trip, I left Greensboro, NC where it was 63 degrees F that late morning, heading to the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, VA. About 4 hours later, as I approached the resort, I was struck by the crystal clear blue skies that welcomed me. As I was parking the car, I noticed the digital temp readout showed 10 and I wondered to myself when I might have changed the readout from F to C readings. When I opened the door, I quickly realized I had driven through a cold front and gained 2000ft in elevation...YEP...it WAS TEN DEGREES F !!! ... and there I was selling the upcoming spring tennis apparel collection, complete with shorts, skirts and halter dresses!!! I don't miss those days

I took mine to the dealer about the outside temperature issue. They told me some BS that the gauge starts at the tempaterature it was when you last drove it, then recaliberates. I took a ski trip a few weeks ago. The temperature when I arrived at the slopes was 20 degrees after a long drive. A the end of the day when I started my car to leave, the temperature read 45 degrees, then began to slowly decend to the teens. So the dealers claim is wrong. I have owned many cars with outside temperature gauges and not one of them did this. Anyone I show this to says it's not normal. Acura is simply not owning up to the problem. It's a shame.

Any updates on this issue? I never experienced this problem with any of my vehicles including the 09 TL I exchanged the RDX with.
Mine shows a minimum of 8-9 degrees Celsius higher than the true outside temperature when first started.

I haven't really paid that much attention to the temp readout on our new RDX but our previous Infiniti did similar to what your describing. When it's very cold and your driving down the road the temp will be acurate. Then while you park for awhile the temp probe(lack of a better term)picks up heat that the engine is generating in addition to very little air movement. When I got back in the vehicle it might read 5-10 degrees higher than the real outside temp and then adjust to actual temp after about a mile. Once I realized how it worked it never really bothered me and I had that vehicle for ten years. I'll have to pay more attention to the RDX temp readout and see if it is doing something similar. Even in the summer it would do it.
