HFL/BT Issue

HFL/BT Issue
Not sure if anyone else has seen similar issues. When my cell phone is paired with the vehicle (with Tech package), HANDSFREELINK shows on the display and then audio system is automatically shut off. I couldn’t even manually turn on the audio unless I deactivate the Bluetooth on the phone. Is this another “safety feature” that Acura has implemented? Also, many times the vehicle display showed ‘calling’ when in fact my phone was only in standby. Tried ‘hang up’ on the vehicle’s phone menu but there was no response. Again, I had to deactivate BT on my phone to resolve this. Very frustrated.

Sounds like your phone may not be paired properly. Try deleting the pairing (on both the phone and the RDX) and reconnecting. I had to re-pair my phone with our RDX a couple of weeks ago after an update and it took 5 or 6 attempts to get it to connect properly.
Sadly, Handsfreelink is very tempremental...

Just went through paring and deleting 7 or 8 times, still don’t see a difference. To make it worse, now there’s no sound from my iPod, although the vehicle display shows the track number and other information.

It's an old Samsung non-smart phone. I'm not using two devices at the same time. This morning I plugged in a memory stick containing MP3 songs it showed 'unsupported' message.

Have a look at the Handsfreelink website http://www.acura.com/HandsFreeLink.aspx and see if your phone is supported.
Unfortunately I haven't found the site very useful, it doesn't tell you why phones or features aren't supported for example, nor does there seem to be any interest from Acura on making it work with phones (other than iPhones), as far as I can tell, if it doesn't work, thats your fault for buying a phone that isn't supported. Sadly, many current high end phones aren't supported fully, particularly for data, because of the obsolete Bluetooth protocol Acura are using.
All that said, if its not working and you're not happy about that (quite rightly), call Handsfreelink customer services (1.888.528.7876).

According to the site, my phone is not compatible. Not sure why my iPod no longer works. It worked great before. I suspect it has to do with the first year glitches of the vehicle.

You are able to play media audio via Bluetooth, so I'm guessing when you pair your phone, the car assumes the phone will be doing both, and will take precedence over your iPod.
Try this: wait until the Bluetooth connection establishes, and then plug in your iPod via USB. Whatever's connected last should have precedence in terms of media audio.
