Coolant leak, any probable sources?

Recent purchase of 2016 RDX. 51k miles, was a 1-owner vehicle (purchased from used car dealer). We’ve had the car about a week.

My wife drove it around town running errands yesterday and when she got back, there was about an 8” puddle of coolant (couple of them) on our driveway, toward the front of the car. Coolant level in the overflow bottle is still at full.

I don’t see any obvious source of the leak. And after sitting in the garage all night, there are only a couple drops on the floor. I haven’t pulled the plastic shield off yet to inspect more closely (will do that later today).

My question is, is there a likely source of the leak based on this limited information, where I should focus my search? At this low mileage, seems like it shouldn’t be the water pump…that’s what I’m hoping you will say anyway :-).

thanks!!

Additional pic—looking from the rear of engine compartment to front. Small blue seepage circled in red.

If everything around the cup is dry, then you need a new radiator. Cheap fix.

Thanks! When you say “around the cup”—what is the cup? Thanks again!

You are welcome. Rockauto will help you, there is a good NISSENS with delivery up to $140.

@altair47 , is there anything special about replacing the radiator on a 2G RDX that I should be aware of? Can’t seem to find a diy write up anywhere—hopefully that means it’s straightforward. Thanks!

This is a simple job, you will need to pinch 2 thick coolant hoses and 2 transmission fluid hoses with Hose Pinch Pliers.
Amazon Amazon
Also order
Amazon Amazon
Then drain the coolant from the radiator, remove the front bumper and follow these diagrams.

@altair47, thank you! This is fantastic. I very much appreciate you posting all of this. I wonder if it can be done without removing the front bumper…my bumper appears to have been removed before (small accident), so I worry that I’ll have trouble getting it back on properly. I have the Advance with the radar, so hoping I don’t disturb those electronics while removing the bumper. But I suppose I will have to take that risk :-).

Again, thanks for your help!

It is absolutely not necessary to remove the bumper, but it is much more convenient without it.
