Broken Driver Side Mirror Housing

I broke my side view mirror housing today exiting my garage. The glass mirror is fine and the unit is working.

A new OEM complete assembly is $357 which requires removal of the door panel. I also I found the housing only for about $70. Has anyone done a housing only replacement? I think you need to remove the mirror, the signal marker and take the housing apart without removing the complete unit. Has anyone done this that can provide guidance? It would be nice to not have to take the door apart, but if the mirror and housing separation is even more difficult, I’ll spring for the entire assembly

I would be curious if the mirror would pop out from the housing...

Hey I know this is old have you fixed this yet? I actually replaced the housing a few months ago. And it was really simple to do. Yes you'll need to pop the mirror off. Remove a few screws. There's a YouTube video out there.. I can't remember which one but some guy with a Civic did it and the procedure was almost identical to our car. Just a do a search.

I was going to say that it can be done - replacing the housing itself.
