After a car accident, what to do?
Hello,
I am a new Acura owner as well as new to driving in snowy and icy conditions. Unfortunately yesterday I hit a patch of ice and lost control of my 2014 Acura RDX (which I've only had for 6 months) and have damage to the front left bumper, fender, fog light, ac condenser, exhaust pipe, and tire/wheel along with possible damage to the radiator.
I would rather pay out of pocket than go through my insurance but I was wondering if anyone is familiar with all the warranties offered through Acura for new vehicles and whether any of them apply to repairs or replacement of parts in a new vehicle? Also, I purchased the tire and wheel protection (IAS Warranty), interior and exterior protection, and diamond fusion but due to the weather the claims departments are closed and I haven't been able to speak to anyone regarding their covered benefits. Is anyone familiar with these benefits and how I may possibly use them to decrease my out of pocket expenses?
Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Sarah

Unfortunately, nothing in a warranty is going to cover damage caused in an accident. You need to work with your insurance company and, depending upon your deductible amount, decide if you want to pay out of pocket or get them to cover it.
Car warranties usually don't cover damage due to accident so I doubt you'll get anything there. It will be quite expensive to fix that damage...many thousand dollars. Use your insurance, that's what it's for.
sarah, usually insurance companies reward you for being loyal.
if you've been a customer for several years, i bet there are programs that allow "forgiveness"
so, your rates will not increase.
pay the deductible to get the damaged fixed, as the deductible will be cheaper than the thousands of dollars of damage you incurred

^ we are doing what is best for you in this case.
as an example, the headlight OEM from Acura is around $721 or so
from what you described, you are looking at about $6-10K in damages (depending upon how bad you damaged what you cannot see)
Things that might need to be fixed that you cannot see
Rad supports (upper and lower)
Subframe (most any time a front wheel gets mangled, this usually gets damaged)
Suspension pieces (you mentioned tire damage so I am sure something is bent)
Inner and outer fenders (if they are crunched, they have to be replaced and should be replaced if creased)
wheel bearing for that side of car.
rim
back in 2009 I curbed my car (the one you see in my avatar) and there was MUCH LESS visible damage and it was a $5800 repair bill as they replaced
A/C condenser
front exhaust pipe
front bumper skin
front sub frame
Lower Control Arm
bumper skin
they had to
repaint door and fender to blend it in due to fender hitting door
Plus they had a list a mile long for various gaskets, seals, paints and other parts like fog lights and whatever else was repaired.
