I have a 2016 RDX that has had an idling sort of rattle noise that only presents itself when the gear selector is in D. After doing 2 drains and fills of transmission fluid the sound persists. Does anyone know what this means? If the gear selector is in N there is no noise.

 

Hard to say without hearing it.

 

Wonder if engaging the transmission is torquing things enough that it is causing the rattle elsewhere - meaning not the tranny itself. Possibly a heat shield on the exhaust or something like that.

 

Just a stretch but is your vehicle due for a timing belt? I ask because I had a similar issue and thought it was transmission related. Turned out it was the timing belt.
