Sealant/Noise reducer for RDX

Hi All,
Been driving my RDX for few months now. Had 6.5k on it and so far I really enjoy driving this car. Ride is little stiff/rough, but it's a sport SUV so i dont have a problem with it. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the noise from outside/road, it is so loud inside the car. I can't enjoy the sound system. Maybe most of you don't have any problem with it, but is there any type of sealant or noise reducer that can be applied to the whole car? So it will be quiet inside or at least reduce the amount of noise from outside. If there is, what is it and where can I get it?
Thanks in advance.

I think the RDX is fairly quiet -- certainly quieter than our TSX.

You can put in dynamat (or a similar product) to make it quieter, but it's a fairly big project to do the whole car.

Could also put undercoating in the wheel wells to reduce the road noise a little.

Undercoating is best to reduce road noise. You can also try to put some dynamat on the inner part of the fenders.

this noise is so loud you cant enjoy the sound system? what kind of vehicle did you drive prior to the RDX? the undercoating will help as stated above to an extent, but....maybe there is an underlying issue that you are unaware of. i cant possibly think of what it could be though...tires, wheel bearing, ??? i cant hear anything else but my sound system and the ever-so-present BOV. if it really bothers you, take it to the dealership.

Yes Dynamat is awesome stuff but I don't know now but it use to cost allot of money for but defiantly worth looking into. Also when I reinstalled my front door panels after the tint shop did not put them back on right I noticed a very quality black thick foam lining the whole metal panel of the door over top of the plastic that is held on by that tar/clay looking crap. I have never seen such clean good quality looking door insulation under a door panel . Mine seems to be very quiet unless I get on it and here the blow off valve. I guess that's why I want an intake and exhaust so badly.

I drove 01 CL-S before I traded it in for RDX. For me personally, CL-S was so much quieter than RDX.

As far as undercoating, should I go to dealership or I can find aftermarket stuff?

some dealerships do it on site, i know some bodyshops also do undercoating. That would at least be youre easiest way to try and damper some of that (road) noise.... the dynamat (found at any local car stereo shop) as said before is quite a bit more labor inten$ive than just spraying the underbody with some gook. i would start there.

just curious, but you dont think it might be loudest coming from behind the dash?

Be sure your background noise cancelling system is activated on the audio system. I have found that it does quiet some of the interior noise.

thank cose25. ill try look around dealership or any local shop.
hmm..im not sure whether the noise coming from behind the dash or not, since im always on the driver side.
but, i checked the tire pressure and it seems normal, 32psi both front and 33psi both rear. tire is original from acura. so i dont think its because of the tire.

noise cancelling...lol...rdx doesnt have it, i wished rdx has it. but nope.
but thanks for all your comments though. appreciate it.

I know exactly where (actually "what") you are coming from. I traded my 01 CL-S in for the RDX also. Noise is quite pronounced on the RDX and has been my biggest complaint -- actually to the point that I know regret buying an RDX. The noise is acceptable around town, but not on a 2 to 4 hour dirve at highway speed. As for the sound system, I can't hear the same fidelity from our RDX sound system at highway speed that I can at 30 mph or idle.

No, this is not the auto volume feature, there is a noise cancellation function in the audio info display part of the screen - just toggle over to it and set Hi, med, or low action. Note, that in the Hi setting it sometimes makes conversation difficult with passengers speech. This may be good or bad depending on the wife!

Again, there is no noise cancellation feature on the audio unit in the RDX. The low med high setting is for SVC, which adjust the volume of the stereo in relation to the speed of the vehicle.

You are correct, I re-read the screen and it is the SVC. I first just read the line "to over come external noise" and assumed it was something it was not. That would be a nice feature though, and not hard to design. thanks, Jim
