2015 RDX EPS and Immobilizer Light on
My wife drove the car to town, parked it and when she came back to it the car wouldn't start. Wouldn't turn over and she noticed the EPS light flashing. She had it towed home and now says the Immobilizer symbol is also flashing, doors will not lock with switches or manually with the key and tailgate will not open. She also heard a clicking sound coming from under the dash around steering column so her nephew disconnected the negative cable on the battery. Problem is I am away until late next week so I'm just trying to search for some ideas as to what is going on with it. She tried the obvious by using our other key. I'm sure it's likely a common issue with this vehicle. The car has 180 kms on it.
While I was on the road I realized my car has the original battery. My experience is batteries last usually 5 to 6 years before they start to act up. I had my wife pick up a new battery at the local Honda dealer while I was gone. I installed it today and the car fired right up. All alarms cleared. The weak battery was the issue.
