2013 RDX Oem Rotors Shot after 24,000 miles, Good Replacements
Just got word from my dealership that my OEM Rotors are pitted and glazed. Its a 2013 with 24,000 miles on it. Im getting a vibration each time i brake. Im looking to reaplce the rotors and pads. What manufatures do your recomend for OEM replacements without going with the OEM Acura/Honda Pads/Rotors? Any recomendations?

Unless it's the rear brake, otherwise your dealer sux!! This should be fixed for free under this TSB, print it and bring to the stealership.
TSB 16-002 was revised and the title was changed.
TSB 16-002 - Front Brake Noise and/or Front Brake Judder

Dealer brake parts are real gerbage. The front rotors on my 2013 RDX had to be turned before 20000km`s on mine. At 34000km`s i had them changed under warranty. A couple of weeks ago I noticed my rear rotors were starting to warp to I shopped around and found a great place for after market brake parts. www.crossdrilledrotors.ca is the place. Last week i changed them all around (4 drilled and slotted rotors with Carbon pads) the truck never braked better. Everything costed me $542 canadian delivered to my door. Cant go wrong...

We have had the warped rotor feel on our 2015 since the 5000 mile mark. Thanks to this forum I just had our front rotors and pads replaced under warranty (per tsb 16-002) at the 11,500 mile mark.

Signed up just to say thank you, this thread saved me a bunch of money.
Dealership tried to tell me my rotors all needed milling. Though I have 30K miles now, I've had the juddering for at least 20K of them and have just put it off for too long. After "enlightening" them on the TSB that I found here, they came back with a "One Time Good Will Warranty Repair". Call it whatever you want dude, but they replaced the front rotors and pads and now my car drives like new again. I am no car expert, but when he told me that I'd probably have to mill my rotors every 30K miles(not change brake pads but mill rotors) I threw the flag. Service "Advisor" wouldn't look me in the eye when I picked up my car....and I wasn't rude, just was very clear in my questions on the phone....guess he didn't like me taking his commission away.
Debating if I will ever go back there for service again.
Anyway...again...THANK YOU!

Are you in Canada? I heard the TSB was not applicable there. You should contact user "realestateguy" and let him know as his dealer refused the repair. Maybe he can try your dealer if it isn't too far away.

there is normal wear and tear...and then there is premature wear and tear....acura has to know that...they also have to know if they dont back up their product it will cost them more in the long run.
a few years ago we were a 3 acura vehicle family . we are now one. and next year the 13 rdx will be replaced with an audi q5 . consumer reports has audi # 1 among automakers.
not that long ago acura was in the top 5 automakers according to consumer reports . they now have them ranked # 19. they need to shake things up quickly.
once they lose their loyal base its going to be very difficult to get them back

$15,000 to $20,000 more? i dont see that.
you mentioned maintenance costs, but i do little maintenance.
once a year synthetic oil change, replace wiper blades, and tire rotation.
in late 2012 when we got the 13 rdx we priced it against the bmw x3 with equal features.
the bmw was around $9,000. more but had a few more features, then acura and it also included no cost maintenance,so thats another option next time out.
but at that time consumer reports rated acura tied for # 4, and bmw was tied for # 12
the rdx pricing was $34,300. to $39,400.
the x3 was $38,600. to $43,900.
not that big a spread in pricing
acura/ audi pricing
2017 base rdx $35,570.
2017 base q5 $ 40,900.
thats a diff of $5,350 to start
i am willing to pay more to get more, but i wont pay less only to get stress and abuse. i dont know if you have read my recent posts about a brake issue.
it wasnt so much the brakes, but how acura service handled it, attempting to rip me off a couple of times for what clearly was their responsibility.
i have been gradually leaving acura for a number of reasons, styling, lower reliability, and declining customer service and satisfaction.
but its not just me consumer reports ranks them 19 and on a downward trajectory, out of 30, that translates to below average, when it wasnt all that long ago they were far above average.
that low ranking will eventually affect resale value. honda is ranked # 10. thats above average. id rather buy a honda, and save some money.
you dont see the problem with honda at # 10 and less money ,then acura at #19 and more money.
ive been with honda / acura for 30 years going back to a 1984 accord sedan.
i stayed with them for 30 years because they earned my loyalty and they deserved it.
but i no longer feel that way,so ive been moving on,and soon will have no acura vehicles.
but thats their fault and not mine.
we have a bmw and infiniti, and soon will have an audi, unless something else gets my attention in the next year.
and if the audi experience doesnt justify the added cost, they will be a one time brand....but there is life beyond acura.

Has anyone had trouble getting Acura or the dealer to implement TSB 16-002 in the US? I have a base 2013 RDX with 29k miles on it and I'm experiencing a faint vibration when applying the brakes. My local dealer indicated that they would turn the front rotors, but that the TSB did not apply to my car because the symptoms had to include noise during brakes application. I then called Acura client relations and the individual I spoke to indicated that my VIN was not covered by the TSB and that any repairs to the front brakes would not be covered by the warranty. This seems to be contrary to the TSB which states that all VIN numbers for 2013-15 RDX's should be covered.

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully, I they will just take care of it and I won't have to escalate. The thing that I don't get is why would the dealers cheap out on this. The TSB appears to authorize a warranty repair, so its not as if they won't get paid for the work. Is it because warranty work pays less than they can charge for a normal repair?

I am sure Dealers get paid a negotiated labor rate and parts at cost.So They lose any parts profit and the difference between the going labor rate and Their negotiated rate with the Manufacturer.
When I had My rotors replaced I made an appointment for rotor judder.I left a copy of the Service Bulletin on My seat.I was not charged and They replaced front rotors and pads on My 2013 RDX.

Dealer took care of everything. They replaced the rotors and pads on warranty. Takata recall issue also. Funny thing, it was right at 16,002 miles. TSB 16-002 was performed.
