Glove Box Removal Procedure?
If you know the step-by-step for removing the glove box on a '17 (or have a page from the service manual) would you please post it? I have the two screws out of the bottom but there's something up top holding it in. I need it out so I can get to the firewall grommet. Thanks!!
Glove Box Removal Process
It's out and the project is moving forward. There were three screws along the top of the box that were holding up progress.
For future reference here are the steps:
1. Empty the glove box
2. Remove two 8mm screws on the far left and far right side bottom of the box
3. Using a plastic panel removal tool pop the plastic trim piece across the top of the box off
4. Remove the three 8mm screws that were hidden under the trim
5. Using a plastic panel removal tool pry off the dashboard end cap (no screws, just clips)
6. Remove the glove box by pulling straight back but don't go too far, there's a wire harness for the box light. The door lock/latch might stick a little, just wiggle the box until its free.
7. Twist the bulb socket 90 degrees to the left and remove the socket/bulb combo
8. Now you can pull the box completely away from the dashboard. Put it on the back seat or someplace safe, put the removed screws in a baggie or someplace you won't lose them.
Done! Now you can get to the passenger side firewall grommet easily. Carefully slice openings in both sides of the grommet and you'll be able to pass wire through for pretty much anything from video cable to large power amp cable.
