Hi, does anyone know if you have to temporarily lower the tailpipe in order to bolt in a trailer hitch? Also, my understanding is that practically all hitches for the RDX bolt on using existing bolt holes in the "frame". If that could also be confirmed, it would be great. TY

I just installed a new Curtis hitch on my 2017 RDX. It was a very simple bolt on using existing bolt holes. I did not need to remove or move any original items under the vehicle. It is helpful to have a friend hold one side up while you get the bolts started. Good luck.

I installed a Curtis hitch for my bike rack and it was literally a 20 minute job. Biggest pain was laying on my back on a gravel driveway. 😁

Does it make contact with the underside of the bumper trim? And if so, did you need to trim any of it?

No contact with the underside of the bumper and no trimming required.

Just installed a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 75784 (class III) from etrailers.com on my 2013 rdx. painless; took me less than an hour. Also the Curt 56008 light harness plugged into the factory wiring (had to install a 20a fuse in the 'trailer light' slot in the fusebox). both were an excellent deal and highly recommended.

if I get the wiring kit where do I locate the factory wiring to connect to ? then just ziptie the wires to the back area near the hitch ?

I used the wiring harness from Etrailer. It plugs into a connector under the trim panel on the driver's side. Here's the one I used. It comes with pretty detailed instructions. They have some pics of the installation on the web page.

I just routed it under the trim panel into the spare tire well. When not in use it's stored in the spare tire well, out of the elements. When I need it, I run it out the hatch and connect it. It works fine, closing the hatch on the wire does not seem to harm it.

You'll probably need to install a fuse in the fuse block under the hood, there's an empty socket for it. IIRC, the kit includes the fuse. Not a difficult install at all.
