Lightbulb Interior Kickboard Protection

I have owned a '14 RDX for few weeks. I found that the plastic the kickboards are made of is very soft. They markup and scratch very easily getting in and out of the car, even with ebony interior. In fact they were already scratched when I picked the car up from the dealership.

I think I found a easy and cheap way to keep them looking good and protect from scratches. I bought clear laminate sheets for the office supply store. They are just sticky enough to stay in place by can be peeled off easily if needed. The letter-sized sheet is the perfect length to cover the kickboard from the seam to the edge of the seat. This is the area that gets most of the wear. The extra width is just placed on the floor under the mats. Since it is clear it is hardly noticeable and will provide some protection from scratches.

If anyone else has found a better solution, please let me know.

If you are talking about the door sill covers, they are inexpensive and simply pop out and clip in. Rather than try to protect mine, I plan to buy new ones for about $20 each after a few years. I suspect only the driver's side will need replacement.

The first one I purchased for my '09 model cost $6 - now the driver side costs about $30 and the passenger side is around $15. I suppose a lot of other people have the same idea as yourself, so the existing supply of parts is 'shrinking', and the price is 'increasing'.

Oh, and the light colors cost more than the black.

Advice Needed for Cleaning the Door Sills / Kick Panels

Anyone care to weigh in here w/ some cleaners/wipes that can be kept in the veh. for cleaning this area? Trust me when I say that parchment is VERY easy to scuff/mar so any input for effective wipes is welcome.
