Adding USB to center console

Did you pursue this project?
Alex,
Did you end up installing USB ports in those two console cutouts? I've just purchased a '17 RDX and noticed the same thing you did. Those cutouts are the perfect location for back seat USB ports. In looking at what's available in the aftermarket, USB modules that simply plug into dash openings, all appear to bel made for Toyota or Mazda. None is the correct size to pop into the Acura opening. I'm hoping you found something that works (without carving up the RDX plugs).
Cheers

The cut outs are actually designed for the rear heated seat switches to the Canadian version of the RDX. The cut outs screw in from the back and do not easily pop out (you have to remove the entire trim piece off the center console to access them-not difficult as they are attached by pressure). I ended up removing one cover and snaked a USB 4 port that I velcroed to the trim piece. I then snaked the other end and plugged it into the center console 12V socket).

Great information Alex, thanks! I'll try just popping off that square(ish) black assembly that holds the blanks and AC vents. I'm hoping it'll just pop out once I get it started.
Cheers

Much thanks to Alex for his tip on opening the rear of the center console. It really does simply pull right off. I ordered a USB port designed to fit Honda blanks (still had to do some filing to make it fit) then ran wire from the new gadget to the accessory wiring in the console. Here's the result:

As I mentioned, you'll have to file a little (or fire up the Dremel tool) to make it fit. File a little, test fit, file a little more, test fit until it finally slips into the opening.

Yes, I just used the 12V running to the center console accessory plug. The USB plug contains the circuit that lowers power to 5V for charging phones etc.
