One month with the car but not using Navigation yet. When I try to give a voice command it says it can't accept it since my Iphone page isn't open (this is a paraphrase--but it captures it). Why is the Navigation system dependent upon what I do with my Iphone? But additionally--what the heck should I be doing?

Would I be better off using my maps on Iphone (where I can just ask Siri and be done with it) by connecting it through the RDX system (of course that would be my next question, how to do that).

I concede some/much of this is operator deficiency. But any assistance would be welcomed and appreciated.

I've read the manual--and am still reading it. 2016.

 

My thought: If you tap the 'Voice Command' button on the steering wheel it activates the RDX voice command system. BUT if you hold down the Voice Command button instead of tap it then it activates siri.

MY theory is that you are holding the button down instead of just tapping it?
