iPod Issues (2014 RDX w/ Nav)

Wondering how to fix or at least where to start to troubleshoot this problem. A little background: I previously had a 2009 TL w/ NAV and attached my iPod through the USB jack in the console. Unless I was adding new files, I hardly ever even took it out of the car. On rare (emphasize rare) occasions it would stop & I would get a 'no data' message, which was resolved by unplugging the device & resetting it. It was a hassle, but so infrequent that I just didn't bother about it (especially since it was a very full 160 GB device that I thought maybe needed resetting periodically for unrelated reasons). The device was also very responsive to the knob controller with very little delay in giving the command through highlighting in the NAV display window and the device responding. Last year I got a new 2014 RDX, also w/ NAV. Using the same iPod, I immediately noticed much slower responsiveness, meaning pressing the knob to give a command and then waiting maybe 10 seconds for the device to respond. More aggravating was the increased frequency of the device just cutting out and giving the 'no data' messages. Again, the problem resolves by unplugging, resetting the device, and plugging back in. About 3 months ago I got a new iPod and these problems remain which suggests its something in the car and not the device, but I don't really know. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated!

I had a similar problem last year. I have no idea if it's the same as your problem, but in my case it appeared to be the USB cable. I tried a different (and better quality) cable and no longer had that problem. You might want to try a different and hopefully better USB cable to see if that helps.

I have the latest generation iPod (160GB). I've had a 2012 TSX and now a 2015 RDX and with both cars my iPod would lock up on an infrequent basis. I then have to pull it out, disconnect and hard reset the device. It's annoying. I'll also add when comparing the 2012 TSX tech to the 2015 tech the iPod interface is lag central compared to the TSX.

Been using latest gen iPod in my 2015 RDX since new (3 mths). Use it constantly and have had no issues. Did make sure to use quality cable, (as mentioned), because I had cable issue in previous car (Honda Accord).

Thanks for the replies. I don't seem to be alone in this. I did try a different cable without any change in the problem. Any recommendations for a "quality" cable?

Just to clear possibilities, do you have another iPod or a friend have one that you can try to rule out the iPod being the issue.

I'd try the one from Apple, which came with the iPod. That may not be a long term solution, since you may want to use that cable in the house most of the time, but it might help isolate the problem.

When I had problems, I was using a cheap cable I bought on the internet for $1. After I switched to a better cable, my problems cleared up.

An update. I tried a different cable with no change. Also, when the iPod stopped this last time I unplugged it from the car USB port and without doing anything to it plugged it into my work station computer. It recognized but could not read the device. So something is happening to the device. I had the car at the dealer yesterday for scheduled maintenance and spoke with the service writer. He was not aware of any "known" iPod/RDX problem. To his credit, he was interested in resolving and tried my iPod in several cars and confirmed the slow response in mine (no way to re-create the freeze). Again, he has no Acura known info on this problem but offered to swap out the car USB port connection at no charge to see what that does. Part is on order. Thanks again for all the responses.

I'm having a similar problem (iPod Classic 160 GB, 2014 TL). The problem seems to happen if I've used the search function and changed artists/genres/podcasts a lot, that is to say, if I plug the iPod in and start listening to something and just leave things alone, everything seems to be fine, but if I start searching/switching often, the iPod will eventually "lock up" requiring that I remove and reboot the iPod.

I've also noticed a slowness in having artists and/or songs show up on the listing once I enter the audio mode.

Does anyone else notice this happening after searching/switching between things playing on the iPod?
