Hacking NAV Unit

I'm new here, but I hate the navigation unit in my 2013 RDX. I've been trying to read a little on the hacking efforts for previous generations, but I didn't get a DVD with the navigation binaries on it like previous generations.

Does anyone have any info to point me in the right direction? Is anyone working on this? I have some free time this christmas and was hoping to try to tackle this... The restrictions on the navigation unit make it pretty much worthless for me.

Thanks.

I haven't heard anything, but I will agree with you that IMHO, the interface is pretty poor.

I don't know where you could get the binaries but I'm under the impression our systems are HDD based.

I assume all the info you need is on the HDD. I think the TL or TSX folks show how to remove the HDD. It looks pretty simple. I think all you need is a paper clip.

From there you can hook up to the comp and go from there....I assume.

I'm coming to my 2013 RDX AW Tech from a 2008 Lexus IS 350. In that car the hacks I did with the navi included pulling the navi out and:

1) clipping the wires In the back that made the car think it was stationary to allow some features in motion
2) installing a switch that you turned "on" to make car think you were still so you could input destination while still in motion. But you only had a 30 second window before the car caught on, I forgot what it was that would ultimately tell it "no, you are moving." But the. You just would switch the switch off for a few and turn back on again to finish your destination entry.
3) installing a vaistech SL2vi so that I could get iPod/iPhone connection to navi and control music from there as well as watch video off the nav screen. Thanks to item #1 I listed, this could be done in motion

Hoping to get all the same abilities in our 2013 rdx
