Thanks for the info, it's good to see that Acura came out with an update so quickly.

I brought it in for an oil change on Friday and they didn't do it. Shame on me for not checking the TSB's more carefully before I left it.

Has anyone noticed a difference in iPhone 5 performance after the update? Specifically regarding incoming calls at least.

Acura Handfree Link website says iPhone 5 is not compatible with the RDX, because of the incoming call issue. THey say it's Apples problem.

Well I missed getting into my dealer last week so I am still in the dark re. the TSB. I can share the link below that I found over on Apple's support forums > https://discussions.apple.com/thread...t=330&tstart=0

We (RDX/Honda folks) are clearly not alone here w/ many manufacturers represented in the 23 page thread & it *appears* to be an Apple i5 BT chip change that is causing the issue that I/we are having.

If I misinterpreted the issue or possible remedy, then someone step in to steer me back into my lane as I have certainly veered from it w/ this topic being discussed.

I just called the dealer to make an appointment to bring in the RDX to get the update done. The service writer said they didn't know anything about it and it wasn't listed on my VIN. Is there any way to verify if it was done when I brought it in earlier this month without me knowing (can I check what version HFL I have?)

Updating to IOS 6.1 will fix this issue of picking up calls.

I'm brought mine in this morning. The service writer is claiming ignorance at this point, so I asked him to look into a TSB for the HFL from the middle of December. I'll update as this progresses, hopefully I won't have to walk in there with a printed copy of the TSB, which I have on my desk next to me right now.

Just Out of Curiosity

AmberB dude, none of my business but what is your goal here? The TSB fix will address what issue for you?

OK, disregard my question here as my search-fu is weak & answered my own question by scrolling to the top of this thread & seeing your OP. Sorry for the lane drift here.

Asking as I haven't had my RDX back to the dealer yet (del on 7 Jan) as the only issue I've had to date was the comm. issue between my i5 & BT which the Apple 6.1 software update cleared up.

Update completed. I still need some time to test it, but so far it doesn't work any worse than before. No random disconnects as before (yet). Haven't tested distorted voice tag playback yet.

Thx for the followup & keeping us in the loop w/ this AmberB, I appreciate it.

When I get the 1st oil change this is on my service writers punch list, hope to leave some FB here in a few months.

Random disconnects appear to be corrected. The distorted voice tags playback issue is "fixed" I guess. I don't know what it is supposed to sound like...previously it was just two static clicks (similar in sound to what we old guys used to hear when rapidly turning the dial on the TV over dead air stations.) Now it is a minute tinny recording playback of the contact's name. Sounds like crap, but it works.

^^^i have the same question jpw. Picked mine up at the end of February and was not sure if the HFL gets updated as part of the dealer prep or not. Would like to check but not sure where to look.

Bumping this - also curious to know what version I have as I've brought the RDX in two or three times since the TSB has been out and the service writer hasn't mentioned any update and the invoice doesn't mention it either.

I had to specify the issues I experienced as problems, and then I had to prompt them to see if there was a TSB, I knew there was, but I want to give them a chance to figure it out on their own. A TSB being issued doesn't mean every car is going to have the repair initiated as soon as they see you, it is simply a note about known issues that have official fixes. If you have any of the below listed problems state that the next time you go in for service...

ddresses distorted voice tags

random BT connect and disconnects

iphone volume lowering randomly

Android SMS "reply to message" fails

Sms message list fails

Our RDX was in for the second oil change (15k mileage service) and I mentioned the Service Bulletin (thanks to this list!) and the "random bluetooth disconnect" issues we have had a few times. The service manager said he hadn't heard of that but would tell the technician. They did end up upgrading the HFL firmware no cost (but @ Acura's cost of $54).

We had only had a few issues in the past year but figured with such an early build model it was worth it for the new software. All is still good.

Still no Reply to Message for iPhone 5 but understand that is Apple's decision to disable. Hope to get the new Siri update from Acura when it is available.
