Dead HFL
Hi,
I have a 2016 RDX. Recently after my last maintenance visit, I have noticed that I can no longer hear a call nor can the caller hear me when using the HFL system. The system will dial the number and connect, but I cannot hear it dialing or the person on the other end of the line. At the same time people are not able to hear me speaking when the connection is made. I ensured that I have connection with the phone because I can play music through the phone and the car's bluetooth connection. Is this an indication that my HFL unit has gone bad?
Any advice other buying a $600 HFL unit replacement would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
lou101

Make sure when you are using the phone that it's going through the head unit. What I mean by that is look at the car screen when making a call and make sure it doesn't say "transfer". if it does, push the button so you can hear it through the car bluetooth. IF you don't do that, the call is going through your phone when you're expecting it through the speakers. This happens to me from time to time.
I'm not sure why it happens but I think it has to do with how you answer the phone or make the call. If I answer through the car, it's fine (i.e. the buttons on the screen). If I hit the answer button on the phone, it seems to go through the phone. People can hear me through the phone mic but I can't hear them and I think something is wrong. The phone and call are connected, I can see this on the car screens. What I really should do is just use the steering wheel controls or hit the answer button on the screen instead of the phone.
Have someone call you and try this.
