Hey folks. Been away for a while but I'm back in the market to replace my 2007 RDX with a newer model. Apple has advertised their new CarPlay capability for several makes including Ferrari, Hyundai, Mercedes, Volvo and Honda, but I haven't heard anything about CarPlay being added to Acura. It seems strange to add the feature to Honda but not Acura.

Specifically I'm looking at the 2015 RDX and wondering whether CarPlay can be added to the stock sound system. Does anyone have any information on this?

 

I checked with the sales manager at an AutoNation Acura dealer (South Bay, SoCal) about Apple's CarPlay on Acura models. He said he was aware of it being installed on some Honda models but not yet on Acura. He said the company often will try out new features first on Honda models, refine them and later install them on Acura models. He speculated that is what they're doing with CarPlay. So it'll probably be at least another year or two before we see this feature show up on Acura models.
