I updated to iOS 7.1 yesterday which comes with a new feature called CarPlay. It's pretty cool. Check it out.

Anyone know if this will work on the 2013 RDX? Do we require another firmware update? I already have Siri Eyes Free Mode.

Lol. At the rate that Acura is cutting corners with the RDX, I doubt it will be included. Maybe in the MMY refresh and that's a big one. Perhaps they'll retrofit it to the RLX, MDX, and TL (with touch screen).

Honda was mentioned as being a CarPlay launch partner, but I doubt we'll see integration with older models.

This article notes Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo will have this functionality first. Honda will have it later.

CarPlay will be offered in Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo vehicles this year, while BMW, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot Citroën, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota will also add the system to their cars "down the road", as Apple punningly put it.

I'm sure we all feel that way with this. With all the functionality and technology in smart phones today, who wouldn't love to have all that connected to a an interface on your dashboard. We'll see how quickly the car companies adopt the functionality.

I'm happy to give it a few years while Apple & the auto manufacturers work the kinks out. Also, Apple may have already done this but they need to release an SDK to make it easy for developers to tap into the system. I could care less if we ever see facebook or twitter on Carplay, but music apps like Rdio and nav apps like Waze should be available. Until they are, I consider the whole Carplay concept incomplete.
