Whining noise

Whining noise
All right here’s the scoop. And I appreciate anyone who reads and possibly contribute to this. I have a 2015 RDX with 118,000 miles. A while ago I started hearing some whining noise and buzzing noise when the car would come to a stop. I took the car in to two different places to have a check out. First I took it to Carmax because it has an extended warranty through CarMax. Carmax diagnosed it with a bad transmission. They said they heard of Whining noise and refer me to a different shop. I should say that the transmission shifts very smoothly and then I also have a S vcm disabler on it so I have no issues with it shifting or slipping or anything like that. I took it to a second shop which I was referred to because they took my warranty. They said it was not the transmission and actually the transfer case that was very noisy. Under the warranty I had a new transfer case installed and was sent on my way. Now this process did take over two weeks so I’m very hesitant to go back because I lost my car for a long time. The car drives fine. It’s Shifts smooth, No slippage no other symptoms other than this wine which only seems to happen when I turn the car on in the afternoon and typically I’m very cold days. As soon as I start driving I don’t hear the whine. I have kept up with all the maintenance myself the only thing I have not done is replace the timing belt and water pump (Broke my knee recently so I’ve been unable to do that although I have the parts). Any idea what this wine could be if it’s a common problem. Just looking to see if it might be something else or if I should take it to another shop and see if it is transmission or torque converter related just trying to put my mind at ease.

Hi OP I have this issue too. Sounds like a whining fan to me as I am coming to a stop, usually when it’s colder. I have a 2013 FWD with only 41k miles than I have had since new. Been noticing this for the last few years as far as I recall. It doesn’t seem to affect anything. There is another post recently with someone else having this issue and looking for thoughts as well. Have you found anything?
