Trailer Hitch Question

Trailer Hitch Question
When and if I wind up with an RDX, I would add the trailer hitch option. The salesperson told me that this is a dealer-installed accessory and vehicles do not come from the factory with it. Can anyone confirm that? (I just want to make sure they’re not just adding an aftermarket hitch to sell me one they’ve got in stock.)
Thanks
Thanks

there is an OEM hitch. it is dealer installed accessory. the dealer will charge an obscene amount of money not only for the hitch but the install.
there is an aftermarket option that is just as good. install is pretty easy if you are handy with tools. etrailer.com carries hitches and every accessory you would would want to hold or haul toys.

Go with the aftermarket hitch from www.etrailer.com .
Hitch and lighting kit will cost you about a third of the dealer cost, and look real nice once installed. Takes about 15 to 20 minutes, no drilling and plug and play lighting.
If you search there are past threads with photos to describe the process.

Here is a thread with the hitch information

I went with the Curt hitch

and Curt wiring
http://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-V...id=20131169949
And here is a thread I started with questions about the wiring. Hope I can save you the trouble.

When we bought our RDX and were talking price there wasn't much negotiation room, but when our salesman said the almost standard closing line: "is there anything else I can do?" we asked him to throw in the hitch at no cost. He did.

True. However, it is always a good tactic to see if they will throw in or discount an add-on like a hitch, based on the salesperson's incentive to close the deal. Especially for a part that can easily be obtained as an aftermarket item.

i think when dealers are selling close to MSRP...they would be more willing to throw in a few accessories. otherwise, if you get pricing close to invoice...they aren't as willing to give you anything. it won't hurt to ask though.
