That's what I'd assume as well because I know of no way to easily change the setting.

Try this:

1. Turn the car on (accessory or running)
2. Wait until the boot-up splash screen disappears and click on OK to advance the warning
3. Press and hold Cancel-Guide-Dest/Route buttons for about 4 seconds and this should get you into the "admin/diagnose" section. If the aforementioned three buttons don't get you there, try Cancel-info-Dest/Route or Cancel-Audio-Dest/Route (I've done it, but can't remember the middle button off the top of my head)
4. Please around, but don't change anything unless you are sure that you're doing. However, I believe there is a section in there that controls the TPMS
4-A. Or you can scroll through the settings menu and change the measuring units

NOTE: I am NOT responsible for any potential damages or issues caused by accessing the diagnostic menu and/or the modification of any settings. You will assume ALL responsibilities, damages, and/or repair costs.

Having said that; good luck and hope you find your solution.
