TPMS Light

The TPMS/check tire pressure light came on driving 2 blocks down the road from my house. Apparently the front two tires were at 0 PSI, I pulled over to check it out but nothing?! I got back in the car continued on my way to work and then it went away(for a while). What? Any ideas of whats going on? Would bring it in but, I think the dealer would say "Unable to duplicate issue".

Do you have any aftermarket device installed? Like non-stock HID? I have HID installed on my highlander and sometime it causes TPMS signal to display on the dash board. Turn it off and it goes away.

Yeah, I have 5000k 35W HIDs installed instead of factory halogens. But what does it have to do with TPMS? I plan to stick with the HIDs until the 2016 RDX's Jewel Eye LEDS(if they fit) or else back to halogens.

This could be an example of one of my unintended consequences. The TPMS sensors connect via radio frequency to the control unit. Some aftermarket crap (often HID kits) interfere with that signal.

Next time when the TPMS on, turn off headlight immediately and see if it goes away. Of course, you need to do that during the day when you can turn on/off headlight. I noticed that if the TPMS on for a while, turning HID off won't clear it immediately. Make sure this is the cause of the issue first before you can determine what to do.

If this is the true cause, you'd better change different ballast. Bad Chinese ballast tends to interfere with a lot of stuff. I stop using aftermarket for a long time and just OEM. I retrofit my highlander with RX350 and use OEM ballast and the issue went away.

Second option is to buy stuff to wrap around ballast to contain interference. Check hidplanet for what to use. One of them is

I personally didn't try that product but I heard around the net people use it with success.
