Tire size substitution

I purchased 235/70-18 Michelin CrossClimate 2 XL tires for my 2017 Acura RDX Tech package. They are not in stock right now and they asked if I want to substitute 245/70-18 tires which are in stock. The 235's are h rated and the 245's are V rated as well as being 10 mm wider. Do you think the 245's would be noticeable stiffer riding? Sincde they are wider and V rated. I suspect they would be and I want a smooth riding tire.

Not sure about wider tire impact on car ride, but… Long time ago with Acura sedan I went opposite direction: I switched from V-rated to H-rated, looking for softer ride. The V to H switch did nothing at all.

This should not be conducive to safe driving. Not recommended

Tire rating (H, V, W, etc.) is based on maximum speed the tire is capable to maintain without blowing up due to raise of temperature (from side of tire flexing under payload). H rating is for speed up to 130 mph and V-rated tire for max speed up to 149 mph. Unless you plan to drive over 130 mph for long, you should not worry about H or V rating.

I wouldn't use 245/70-18 on my RDX and it's not because of the speed rating. You can use H- or V- rated tire on this vehicle. The issue is the 245/70-18 tires are wider AND taller then the OEM. How long of a wait is there for the OEM size?
