Tire issue

Tire issue
I got a nail on the side (front passenger) which cannot be repaired per the dealer and they recommended 2 new tires if not all 4
These are the original tires when I bought the car. These are Michelin Primacy and run about $250 a piece on my 2013 Acura RDX.
The tires have 6/32 left and about 29,000 miles. I think the tires are 55,000 miles tire life.
My car is about 3.5 year old. I still have bumper to bumper warranty left.
And I was reading on Michelin's website that they also offer warranty but a bit unclear on it.
From what I understand this should be replaced at no charge or prorated amount but the dealer wants to charge me full price.
Wasnt planning on spending $1000 around the holidays on tires but may have to
Anything I can do ??
Has anybody run into this kinda issue ?

As I understand it, the tire warranty is separate from the Acura bumper-to-bumper warranty. Take it to a Michelin tire dealer and see what they say. You're probably out of luck, tho. The tire warranty usually covers tread life and defects, not road hazards, which is what a nail would be.
There are tires other than Michelin that would be just fine and probably less expensive. There are a few threads on here about tires, you might want to check them out. And you could just go with two...if the others are good you shouldn't have any problems.

Just replaced the OEM Michelins on my 2013 RDX at 47,500 miles. Keep in mind I use winter tires from December to mid March. They did have a little tread left (not down to the wear bars) but it was not with the risk of hydro-planing in heavy rains. The "55,000 Mile" expected life is in a best case scenario, not real world driving. Your warranty would be pro-rated against the retail price of a replacement tire. Not really worth the bother. Lots of good options out there instead of Michelin. Do your homework and shop around.

Before you go an buy anything, check with a local, dependable independent tire shop. Some places, like Discount Tire, have a very small area in the main tread that they will fix, then they try to sell you tires (saying it's all about liability)...your dealer may be like that and not want any liability, either. Depending on the spot on the sidewall, some independents can do a great repair job and don't have an issue with doing the repair at all. They do make good patches for parts of the sidewall that work well. My son had one done a few years back on his Nissan and ran that tire (along with the others) almost bald before I noticed it and bought him a new set for his birthday. It was a $30 repair, though, because the patch was pricey, according to the shop we went to.
Again, it depends on the spot of the repair in relationship to the sidewall.
Good luck!

If you didn't buy a road hazard warranty when you bought the vehicle then forget it. Your tires are kinda worn anyway and will probably start getting noisy soon. My Primacy's were exceptionally noisy with maybe 5/32 left.

The tire warranty doesn't (and shouldn't) cover road hazards. At 6/32ns, your tires are over half worn (4/32nds is the new 2/32nds) so I'd certainly swap out both tires on that axle.
Do a price check on Tirerack - most dealers will price match.

Our 2013 RDX Tech recently had a slow leak from a nail in the side of one of the OEM tires. We went to our local Discount Tire shop. We buy all of our replacement tires there and they treat us very well. Even though they were the OEM tires (i.e., not tires sold to us by Discount Tire), the manager gave us a pro-rated amount toward 3 new tires. We had roughly 28,000 miles on the original tires. I believe they could not give us anything for the damaged tire, but they did give us a pro-rated amount for the other 3 tires. I did not want one new tire and 3 old tires, so we replaced all 4 with the same Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires. The total was $850, which included tax, TPMS kits, environmental fees, road hazard (refund/replacement) certificates, and lifetime adjustment, balancing, valves, and rotation. There was also a $70 rebate from Michelin, so the total was really $780.
