Telephone question

Yesterday I got my AWD Advance. Graphite luster with ebony. We ordered it on May 22nd This is our first Acura. Everything seems OK. Drives very nice. Suspension is good.
Of course coming from a ML350 we need to get used with a smaller car and mainly smaller seats.
I have a question..I have an old Razr 3 which for us is good enough. I paired it with the car and the phone book was supposed to be downloaded. Instead , I found a series of numbers unrelated to the phone book.
Did anyone encounter something similar?
How do I delete these numbers from the phone book?
Thanks

Congratulations on your new Acura.

It sounds like there were already addresses in your list before you did the download. You can delete individual address entries via the Edit Phone Number function. I am not aware of a way to delete the entire Address Book at once. It might be available via some master reset function but you probably don't want to do that.

Congratulations again. Your RDX was probably test driven by someone who tried to pair his phone and forgot to delete those entries (or the salesman was showing off). Nothing unusual about it. If you really want an untouched car you may want to consider special ordering one.

Thanks. It was special order. But maybe the salesman tried to learn the procedure

How do you edit.?
I see that the speed dial list could be edited but not the phone book and now the Numbers are different from one list to the other
Assuming that I could edit it, could I repopulate the phone book by repairing my telephone?

To edit an Address Book entry, press the MENU button and got to the Address Book. Then you scroll to find the entry you want and press ENTER to see it. One of the options under the entry is to Edit Address Book. Select that option and then the next screen has the option to delete the entry.

Thank you much, but it does not work.once you press enter to select one entry ,
it is displayed on the screen with no options. The only possibility is to press the big button once again which triggers a call for that entry..
I am going to go to the dealer to ask.
When you populate your quick call list, it works the way you describe, but not on the Phone book.

Are you accessing the Address Book via the MENU button. Here is what I see on my car.

When I check the MENU button, I see:

Then I click the Address Book option to see:

Once I open an entry, I see this on the screen:

Here you select the "Edit Address Book" option (notice how the word 'Edit" in in a smaller font) and I then see:

On this final screen, select "Delete" and press the ENTER button to delete the entry. There will be a confirmation message to complete the deletion process.

I also found in the nav manual there is a way to delete your entire address book via the INFO button/Set up option. It is under the Clear Personal Data from the "other" Set up screen.

Thank you, but do you have a 2016? My menu looks a lot different if I access the telephone Are you using the navigation menu?
Anyhow, I went to the dealer , talk to the sales guy who is pretty good and he said that he never saw this situation . We deleted the telephone , we reconnected and the address book looked the same. The service was closed he said that they have a terrific guy who knows the telephone side and next week I am going by. Thank you very much

NLRL I am glad you found someone at the dealership that can help you. I drive a 2010 TL and I understand that each of our cars' features vary sometimes from year to year and for model to model. I usually try to include my car's profile in my replies for this reason.

You have a problem with telephone numbers in the phone list or addresses in the navi menu? Or both...? I'm confused.

My issue is with the phone book.
First my telephone book was suppose to be downloaded automatically and instead of it, is a list of letters and numbers which do not make any sense.
Second I wanted to wipe this nonsense but in the phone book of the car it is no way to edit the entries.
RENO tried to help but he came with a solution in the navigation menu which has nothing to do with my issue in the telephone menu.

You may want to check with Acura to see whether that Razr is one of the supported phones for the pairing/phone book download. I remember a few years ago when we were getting the wife's TL that there were only certain phones that would allow the phone book to successfully download. Given that the Razr is an older phone, it might be that the download is random info that doesn't correlate to your actual on-phone phonebook. Could be that this is the issue.....

NLRL, like COMFY, I got on the tangent that this was an Address Book problem rather then a Phone Book problem. From the Owner's Manual for my car, I have a couple of suggestions. Within the PHONE SETUP menu, there is an option to Delete Imported Phonebook. You may want to try this to see if all your Phonebook entries are gone. Then re-download from your Razor phone again. I also read that you can have up to 6 HFL users and each one can have its own phonebook, speed dials and call history. Couyle it be that someone before you took possession of your car added another users? Just a thought. You may want to also see if there are other phones that have been "paired up" and remove any besides your phone.

That's right. I checked my cars menu but I cannot find the link to delete the entire addresses. The only link I can find is that says "clear cellular phone information". But if I click on that it asks for the phone's password and I'm worried that it'll erase everything in my phone. I have a 14 RDX so may be it has a different system than the current one.

Thanks,
I did all of the above and it is still the same. On Friday I am going to the service . They claim to have a real specialist on telephone connections

Can you give a step by step narrative as to how you reached this screen please. Thanks.

On my 2010 you go to the phone screen by either pressing the Phone button on the steering wheel or via the Nav knob by clicking the Info button and then selecting the Cellular Phone choice. On this screen, press down on the Nav knob to select the Phone Setup screen. The result will be the screen that includes the Delete Imported Phonebook option.

I didn't realize you were having a first gen RDX. So that is definitely different in second gen. I want to know what has changed in the refreshed version. Thanks.

So, I went to the service with my phone book issue and the conclusions are
1 because my Razr 3 is so old some items are not compatible.the calls are working, but not the phone book.
2 the phone book on the car can not be edited. You need to edit your cell phone book.
Now I need to decide to get a new cell. I am with Verizon and I am over the 2 year contract.
I do not need all the gizmos. Could you recommend a decent priced cell which will work?
I recollect seeing a list of Acura recommended cells but I can not remember where.
Thank you

NLRL, for what it is worth, I was in the similar position with an old flip phone that worked great for my needs. I didn't think I would want or need a "smartphone" since I already had an iPad and the phone screen would be so small for an old guy like me. When my old phone finally gave up, I decided to get an iPhone and now I can't imagine not having one.
