Splash Guards

Did any one try installing splash guards on their own. My dealer couldnt install it at the time of delivery and now I am thinking of installing it on my own. Let me know if anyone had experience doing this.

The dealer where I bought my rdx wanted over $200 for installed splash guards. Crazy! All their accessories are more than list price compared to other sites. They tried telling me they are giving me a discount when selling to me for msrp. Needless to say, I'll be buying online and installing splash guards myself too.

There is a thread where people talked about their splash guards install. I can't remember if its in the photo section or the DYI....If you are handy and comfortable, then yes, you will save some money. Luckily for me, they are standard in Canada (although its already factored in the price)

Piece of cake. Assuming you buy from Acura, the kit comes with rivets and decent instructions. Should take less than an hour at home with only a Phillips and flat blade screw drivers. The Acura guards fit like a glove and look great.

Follow the directions...it is easy! Easier for some than others I guess....but, a 10 yr old could do it.
If a dealer told me they wanted $200 to install splash guards.....I would ask them what the labor code book shows for install time and what their labor rate is. It won't come out to $200!! They are insane and gouging people. They are nuts. And I'd tell them that.

And this BS about you should feel good about getting your vehicle for MSRP is, is, is...BS!!!!!
I've purchased over 60 vehicles. Over half were new....I've never paid MSRP...nor will I ever. For them to use that to try and make you "feel better" about their gouging for the mud flap install....well, they are about as low as you can get. Been there, done that. They would never see a dime of mine.
I would have told them "you're lucky I bought my car from you...you should be kissing my _ss for paying MSRP....and that's the last dime you'll see from me.

Just for clarification, you don't mean rivets, do you? That would require a rivet gun to install. The splash guards on my TL were attached by screws.

No rivet gun needed. These are more like push pins.

The install is very easy. I agree a 10 yo can do it!!

You're right. Pushpins on the rear and screws on the front. Acura has you reuse the Phillips head screws but provides replacement pushpins. The trickiest part was removing the old pushpins. It took me awhile to realize I just needed to slide the flat blade screwdriver under the edge of the head to lift it.

This thread (as well as another member of this forum) inspired me.

I ordered a few items to do myself.
