Spare kit for FWD

Since Honda decided that people who bought FWD don't need a spare, jack, lug wrench or the jack bar has anyone found a way to buy the complete kit that comes with the AWD? I was hoping to avoid giving the local dealership any more money if possible.

I bought the kit from here (while they ran free shipping last Thanks Giving, the price was about 138, they seems jacked up the price now)
06421-TX5-A02ZA | Acura Spare Tire Kit (RDX) - Bernardi Parts
The webpage says the jack bar and the tire wrench are not included, actually they are included.

Then I went to Discount Tire to have the Kumho SpareT121 165/90R17 tire installed for about $96 all incl. You can pay about $100 more to get Continental spare tire with lower load rating than Kumho ( 2039 lbs vs 2,756 lbs on Kumho). Since I expect to use the spare tire only a couple days max through out the ownership of my RDX, Kumho tire is fine for that purpose.

So the total cost is about $240, for Spare tire wheel, tire mounted, Jack, jack bar, tire wrench, spare tire nut and some stickers to put on top of the tire pressure sticker on the driver's door.

It sucks that I have to shell out $240 extra on a 40k+ vehicle, but I do not want to drive a car with no spare or the tires are not run-flat.

you may want to see if the CRV kit works and use that. It might be cheaper. Pretty sure the lugs are the same size. I know that they are on my 02 Acura CL-S and my friend's 03 civic

Thanks! that's a savings of $200 over what I found on Amazon.

Just wanted to update this thread. As CrimsonElan said the link from Bernardi also included the lug wrench and jack bar (hook). I picked up the Kumho spare from the local discount tire for $86 all in. The only thing I don't have is there also seems to be some kind of little Allen wrench or something that I have seen in some pictures. I have no idea what it's for but there is also a slot for it in the trunk.
Total it was right around $270 for the spare kit, shipping and the tire.

Thanks for the info, just did the same getting a Kumho spare.

I do find that the Kumho spare kinda raises the cargo floor by about a 1/4 inch or so.

Maybe the Kumho is a little wider than the Continental. Or I just didn't install it right.

Keep it in the garage to air up tires as needed.

Thanks for all the good info guys. I just got the same kit and the Kumho spare for my 2017 RDX. I also noticed that the spare raises the cargo floor. I wonder if by shaving off the bottom foam would make it be flush.

I have a cargo tray and don't even notice it anymore.

It might just be a matter of putting something heavy in the trunk and giving it some time.

Bump, thanks for this thread. Just got a 2017 RDX with no spare tire kit of course. Kind of ridiculous car manufacturers don't provide this as a standard.

This Bernardi deal is pretty good.

"Kind of ridiculous" to buy a car without a spare and then complain about it.

I have a much better deal for all of us who want the space saver spare for either an MDX or an RDX.
On Amazon you can get the kit for only $57 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Then buy either a 165/80D17 tire for the MDX or a 165/90D17 for the RDX.

Let's see now $57 + $31 = $88 versus twice that amount for Bernardi. Duh.

Anybody know why there are 2 7MM interior color matching trim clips included in the kit? Nothing in the instructions on where they go.
