So quiet in here

Why this forum is so quiet. I see that the other model forums of Acura have a fair bit of activity, mostly about squeaks, rattles and transmission jerks. Is it because the RDX is so quiet and without problems? . Or may be everyone is preparing for the winter rear shock rattle???

I was noticing this too, not a ton of replies to things..

So this will be my first winter with the RDX what is this winter shock rattle? I did notice when driving home last night in our parking lot (during turns kind of rocks the car a bit left to right) I could hear some slight creaking I hadn't notice before, and it was about 55 degree's last night. is this that? is it serious?.

I've seen those complaints, but I have not had any issues like that with my 2013 RDX tech.

Too busy driving my car and enjoying it to complain, lol. I have minor gripes with every car I've ever had, and I have a few with the RDX too, but overall I enjoy my ride. I just drove 2300 miles cross country from Chicago to Denver and then San Diego, and it was a really pleasant drive.

I honestly believe the lack of activity is due to our models age bracket and lack of aftermarket support. It doesn't have the sportiness or tunability of the 1st gen. that I truly miss

It's my first winter as well but I read about that issue a lot in this forum and people suggested that I wait till this winter to know what it is....

Guess not a lot of enthusiasts for this segment of cars. Can't blame them.... nothing to fix and nothing to mod! The RDX is our primary family hauler, but I need to come up with a plan to get a cheap(er) sports car for myself... maybe an old NSX or Supra.

I couldn't agree more! The 1st gen RDX forums are more interesting imo - lots to talk about in terms of HP gains, tunes and mods. Way less bickering too.

I take it as a good sign when a forum is quiet. For a car like this where there isn't a huge mod market, most posts end up being about reliability issues. Less posts = less issues.

Boring is good. We have had zero issues in 23K miles. It's our go-to highway car (Toronto to DFW often) and is a damn fine "urban guerrilla warfare" car in tight and aggressive downtown traffic. We compare it to our former '07 RX350, which required lots of steering input to keep it going in a straight line - exhausted after 8 hours, wheras with the RDX we're ready to party after 10+ hours. Not loving the nav system now that we have our TLX Tech but I'm sure that'll be corrected shortly in the upcoming update (2016 model?).

CanTex: What are the major differences between the NAV in your TLX Tech and the RDX?

Can you input data while the car is in motion?
Are turn and toggle buttons the same or separate?
Is there a separate button to enter destination or a single one does everything?

Sorry I haven't been in the RDX sub-section as of late....since getting rid of the RDX, I spend more time in the TLX as that model is new and lots of bugs or problems so its more exciting.

The RDX is getting due for a MMC so expect a bump in activity when it hits the showroom/car shows

Hi Weather, So nice of you to drop by. So what car did you get after getting rid of RDX...?

Though there are complaints about the two-screen layout, the touch screen keyboard is the major improvement for me. Otherwise, it's rotate, click, rotate, click, and on and on. We're playing with the adjustable viewing angle thing now but may go back to flat. The rotating screen to show the direction you're going is also unsettling. Yes, that was on the RDX but it's "funner" in viewing angle mode. Voice recognition system is probably the same but it doesn't work well for me. Better menu options, like setting the nav system to where you are right now. This helped me return to the same parking spot the next two days of the F1 race in Austin. Other things that escape me at the moment (my wife is out with it at the moment) but covered by others in other threads. It just seems more modern and sophisticated for an Acura. (The Lincoln MKC I drove last week flat blows Acura out of the water on nav systems, as does the Audi A3 I also drove.)

I'd really have to go sit in the car to refresh my memory. See other note. I wouldn't adjust anything when I'm driving and my wife is tech-phobic so it's all on me. And maybe it's just me but the navi lady seems a tad more polite when we stray from her assigned route.
Not sure what you mean by turn and toggle buttons. I just get in there and do it. Parked, of course.

Thanks for the review.
By turn and toggle buttons I mean the big circular button at the center in RDX. In order to scroll menu you have to rotate it by holding just the outer part, but you cannot toggle that part up, down or sideways. For that you have to grip the top part of the button ( and it is actually a separate button) . Please excuse me for this lengthy explanation, cause I had to spend at least 5 minutes initially to figure out how to operate this button. Now it's second nature for me though.

Me too. The sales rep had to point out that the rubber ring closest to the dash was what rotated, not the shiny part nearest the outer edge. Yes, it's essentially the same but more is done by touch than before. And the up/down thing is still confusing because the icons are unclear: click in the middle or click downwards? Hmmm.

Though that MKC was intriguing, the RDX is still the better car for the long haul, nav system aside. Like your mother told you when you lusted after some hot babe, the babes lose their looks as they age so stick with the one who will be your lifelong friend. Enter, stage right, the RDX.

Hey stranger....Believe it or not, the g/f wanted to try the ILX and quite honestly, we are both AMAZINGLY surprised by how much fun it is to drive. We are both very slender (slim) people so the ILX is just the right size for her and I enjoy it too.

In case you weren't aware, my TL has been returned to the dealer back in the fall so we just have the little Accent (snow/rain car) and the ILX. Now the big question is what will I be getting in the spring to replace the TL....I was hoping the TLX would be in my driveway but too many tranny problems at the moment for me to feel comfortable pulling the trigger.

As much as I would like an Audi....the reliability factor is worrying me given that the closest dealership is ~2h away. If there was a dealership in teh same city, it wouldn't be an issue...so now, there is a 95% chance I'll be getting the IS 350 RWD F SPORT....in White
