When you close your passenger doors and go past the last resistance point, are they closing completely on their own if you let them go? Mine sometimes do but not always which irritates my wife and I have to take the car in for service soon so I'm wondering if the dealer can tweak them. What's your experience?

 

As with all new cars, one has to learn the characteristics of the car. The door checker has a few indents to rest on. The passenger is pushing or swinging past these indents and letting momentum do the rest... Instead, teach the passenger to gently open the door and rest it on the indent.


Or you can buy Honda Accord door checkers and install them yourself. The Honda Accord checkers are shorter with no indents

 

Never knew it was called a door checker until my service advisor priced a replacement for me. $75.

I'm no longer parking on hills, so no need.

 

Maybe I was not clear, the issue is the doors not always closing completely on their own momentum like we would want them to when we let go of them after the last indent. Sometimes they do not completely latch and that is the irritating part.

 

A 2019 loaner I had had the same issue on the driver door. Took the lady bringing it up about 10 minutes to figure out the RDX wouldn't shift into drive because the driver door wasn't completely closed. Had to slam the door for it to close properly.
