rough downshift - help!
rough downshift - help!
I have a second generation RDX with 6k miles on it. I've noticed while driving in the city that as I roll to a stop from ~25mph, the car will jerk forward a little around ~20mph (and the rpm's will go up a little). I think I'm either feeling the downshift from 2nd to 1st gear or the engine shifting from 6-cylinder to 4-cylinder.
Has anyone else felt this? What do ya'll think?

^^ This has been reported by several people here. There is a thread already on this issue. Mine does not seem to exhibit this behavior, or at least I don't feel anything that makes me aware its occurring. My little 2012 Hyundai Accent on the other hand, no problem on the acceleration phase but as I come to a stop, the symptom you describe is extremely noticeable....
Could you find the thread for me? I think I saw it before, but now I can't seem to find it. If I remember correctly I don't think there was any resolution...
What are you going to do with your Hyundai? Have you taken it to the dealer?

If I find it, I will post here for you.
As far as the Hyundai, I don't think they can do much, I read somewhere that on the downshift, it doesn't rev match and sort of an inherent flaw of the car. Its a very chea car for me and gets me around when it rains so I don't really care to much, my Accent is really an appliance for me so I don't get overly worked up about it. I keep wanting to take it to the dealer but I always forget....shows how much it worries me *lol* If this was my Acura (RDX or TL), that would be a different story.

I think I may have found it. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rdx-problems-fixes-409/low-speed-lurch-869745/
This issue is really frustrating! Argh.

Approaching a stop I do feel that same downshift or VCM kick in, whatever it is. As soon as I tap the brake, I can lift off the brake and the car will continue to slow down. I don't get a big jerk motion. I just figure it's something to get used to with the car. I wonder if this is how hybrids with regenerative braking feels.
