Replacing shocks with comfortable options?

Hi All,

I've had difficulty with the stock shock absorbers since I bought (2013 RDX AWD). 2 replaced and they still feel "clunky". I'm going to have my 100k servicing done soon, and I would like to replace the shocks with something that grants a really smooth, comfortable clunk-free (LOL) ride.

Could anyone here make recommendations?

Thank you!

KYB for shocks at the back of the car is about the only way to go other than the OEM parts. Like the result on my ride after changing them out. OEM is the only strut available for the front of the vehicle

I replaced my rear shocks with KYB Gas-A-Just. I like how they handle, but they do feel a bit firmer than the OEM shocks. After replace the OEM options, I'm pretty sure the 'clunk' is a result of bad bushing/not having bushings on one side of the shock. The KYB shocks had bushing for above and below the mount point on the shock, where as the OEM option only had a bushing on one side.

You could try to buy aftermarket bushings and install them on your OEM shocks to see if that fixes the clunking.

I'm not mechanically inclined (Grin), so I would get a licensed mechanic to do this. I had one of the shocks replaced prior, due to the "clunk" (it was defective, OEM). I thought we'd have more options for this vehicle, to get a more cushy/comfortable ride. My car is in super condition, I take care of it, I just can't stand the clunky nature of the OEM shocks.
