Remote Engine starter

I am about to make the jump and get the RDX AWD (no Tech Pkg). I asked the dealer about adding on Remote Engine Starter as option. They quoted me more than $700. The Acura website lists this option at $244. Dealer claims that is wrong. I am guessing he is jacking up the option price. I live in the northeast and during the time it snows, the remote starter would be nice to have. What have you guys paid for it?

Also, if I were to take the vehicle to a dealer different from where I bought it, would the dealer give me service loaner or do they refuse because I didn't buy the vehicle from them?

Thanks.

I bought the dealer installed Acura unit, in Canada the pricing on line was $700, that's what I was charged.

I am disappointed that it requires 2 separate fobs (Key Less and Remote start) I thought it was an integrated one. I going to look in to the Compustar Dronemobile and see if it will work with the Acura system. This way I could lose the remote start fob and use my iPhone.

Yea thats where I am, i didnt get anything at the dealer and have it down to the

Compustar Drone
Viper SmartStart
& the Acura oem

only selling point on the Acura oem is the warranty... negatives are the restarting of the car when you enter AND the 2 key fobs

sigh.

You'll need to have two fobs and restart the car after disarm, regardless of which starter you get. I have a Viper and it gets excellent range and two way communication features. However, the fob is on the larger side.

Check out Viper 5902. Keep in mind that if you purchased a Viper unit online, Viper may void your warranty. Also, make sure you have it installed by a REAL professional as this unit is a bit more complicated than most.

Go the Compustar drone, this way you can use your smartphone and have only one fob.... If I was to do it agin this is the way i would go. I still may as the 2 fobs really annoys me, and the range is certainly down. I have a Compustar long range remote start in my Nissan X-Trail, and it will start it nearly a half mile away...
