Rear Upper Control Arm
Rear Upper Control Arm
My RDX has developed a clunking sound in the rear. My shop diagnosed excess play in the left rear upper control arm, and I plan to have them replace this. I plan to keep the car a few more years - are there other rear suspension components that would be reasonable to replace at the same time? I am thinking from a labor-saving perspective. Everything else is original to the car. 125k miles on Michigan roads. Thanks!
I don't know how you feel about the ride, or the condition of your shocks, but she shocks and the control arms are connected; I would probably replace the shocks at this juncture.
It is always good to know the year and model of your car, although I suppose that in this case it isn't particularly germane, and you did provide the mileage. Not having had to replace any major parts in 125 thousand miles is pretty good, although only to be expected in this vehicle.

We were unanimous - in fact everyone was unanimous.

My rear clunking sound was the shocks. I replaced the swaybar links as well. I guess I'd be pretty surprised if the upper CA was that worn without other components being completely worn out as well- like the lower ball joint....
