Rear Camera Guidelines

The guidelines when backing up change colors, either yellow or orange. What's that all about? My wife thinks it's a warning that you're getting too close to the curb. She's afraid of curb rash.

This is on the '16, right? They're yellow when the wheels are pointed relatively straight, orange when they are turned.

They do more than change colors. In reverse as you turn the wheels from straight, the guideline pattern changes shape and color to indicate the path you're on if you keep going. Nice feature. I also like the 3 different views for really close work: one view from the camera looks straight down, so you can see the face of whoever you just ran over. Cool!!

And the three lines represent known distances behind the vehicle. If I'm not mistaken the dashed line is how far the tailgate swings out.

You must drive much, more slowly than I.

I love the backup camera. It makes it a lot easier to parallel park, for one thing.

Something like that. What I was told is that any object that's high enough in between the dashed line and the bottom will be hit by the tailgate.

So don't back up too close to a wall. The part where the wall joins the floor shouldn't be below the dashed line.

Lets not forget that the tailgate opens in an arc. So that dashed line is really at its maximum part of the arc which looks to be about 5foot 6 inches from the ground.
