Really Acura?
Really Acura?
So, I received an email today offering an updated map for my RDX for a mere $149 and, if I order quickly, free shipping! Yippee? Not so much. I know (and most of you know) those same maps will be sold for $99 at some point this year. The worst part? Owners of the '19 RDX are reportedly (though there's still some question about this on the gen3 forum) getting over the air map updates four times a year for FREE! (quote from Acura press release cited on the forum: " The system includes free quarterly map database updates for five years.") How is that right?
Come on Acura, offer map updates to the rest of us for the cost of burning the DVD (since we apparently can't update via wifi) plus shipping and handling. Say $20. Or, better, let us take our own flash drives to the dealer once a year, load the new maps on them then go home and burn our own disk. Great customer service and it gets us into the dealer's parts department where they can try to sell us.....Acura tire valve caps or something. Now that sounds fair.
Cheers!

I laughed when I saw the update notice in my email. My wife's 2012 Nissan Maxima had a much more coherent navigation systems that was more intuitive to use. The navigation on my RDX is one of the few features that I really dislike, and I always find it easier to just use Google Maps (for me anyways). Hopefully they make improvements when I look at Acura next time, and I think I'll just pass on this "offer".
I've been a member for a long time, but don't usually spend time on the Forum. My 2010 SH-AWD 6-MT has been my daily driver since January 2013; it's been the absolute best daily driver I've ever had. I live in Connecticut, and it handles the snow wonderfully with Pilot A/S 3's, and the 6-MT is sooooo smooth and a blast to drive. It's a great car. I've thought for a long time that I'd probably hold onto the car for a long time, but here lately I'm wondering/contemplating moving to an automatic... Not sure what else I'd get though, so I'll have to look around for a while.
If you switched from your 6-MT to an Automatic something, what would you consider buying?
