The Need for Speed

There's a post somewhere I can't find about what the current RDX's will max out at. I had my '16 up to 115 mph today before I ran out of road. It still seemed to be pulling hard. I think there's a rev limiter that limits us to something in the 130's, but - like I said - I can't find the thread. Guess I need to find more road. Anyone else had similar experiences?

All vehicles have limits, rev limited or not. BUT, why the hell are you going 115 mph in a SUV!? It's a deathwish. One wrong flick of the wrist at those speeds and flip you go and dead. Please, drive like a normal person before someone dies. If you really want to go fast take it to a track or better yet buy a serious sports car and go drive Germany's Autobahn.

Just to see what it'll do. Open road. Good pavement. Out in the middle of nowhere. This is Kansas, after all. A flick of the wrist at any speed will get you into trouble. This is an RDX. Not your typical SUV.

Actually, it is your typical SUV. A non-typical SUV would be a Porsche Macan Turbo with the Performance Package, although I am not sure why anyone would want one.

Hey @jcross1231 - I took a massive dog piling when I asked about top speed when I got my 2015. Back then I think it was limited to 135 mph. So your 2016 should be similar?

It's electronically speed limited to 132mph i've done it a few times plenty of revs to go. I would have to say if the speed limiter was removed it would probably be somewhere in the low 140s for a true top speed. The RDX is very stable at those speeds with good tires the only thing it lacks at those speeds is brakes. There's a time and a place to do those kinds of speeds.

Oh god really? You sound like someone who has never drove past the speed limit before. I was raised to learn the limits of the vehicle before driving a car as a daily driver and I did this at the age of 10 in a open field with over 80 acres of property. People need to understand there is way more to driving then braking, accelerating, turning left and right.

Thanks for the straight answer. I've got a 13,000 foot runway I can try it out on, but it's 70 miles away. Easier to find an empty road. It really does handle well at those speeds. The only thing noticeable was the scenery going by faster than usual.

These RDX's are pretty quick. I was in the left (fast) lane here in NJ this Sunday morning and a large white Escalade came roaring up on me. I hit the gas and went from 70 to 105 in a matter of a few seconds,,,,I was surprised when the VTEC kicked in as it never winced.... The Escalade didn't expect that I guess and when he caught up, I went to the middle lane and let him be on his way..

Always a time and a place but felt good to see these V6's still have it.
