Lane sensing sensitive?

I have driven my new RDX and when approaching a curve on the highway, I hear a beep even though I have not crossed over the line.

Is this normal?

I drove our 2016 RDX at length yesterday on the highway, and I noticed the same thing. It is a bit sensitive, and beeped/flashed the warning at least 3-4 times during the commute.

I haven't noticed this. Maybe you crossed the line without realizing it?

That is "false positive" -vs- a "false negative" the new tech will have.

- false positive: an error that triggers an event that is not there. The worst thing that could happen is a warning and/or maybe braking with a false positive. Can be really irritating

- false negative: an error that does NOT trigger an event that is really there. The worst with a false negative is a distrust of the tech, an accident, recalls, TSBs, litigation, damaged brand name, etc...

Acura/Honda will swing more towards 2-5% false positive than -1% false negatives if the technology is still not there yet. I've just gotten use to recognizing the conditions of false positive and stay alert to override and limit (or eliminate) ACC, CMBS, and/or BSI usage if need be (heavy traffic, road construction areas, heavy wooded 2-lane roads, and winding roads).

I still think the Acura watch system is very good for the $$. Unfortunately, it is still 100% re-active compared to the driver being able to be proactive and avoid Acura watch safety system activation all together.

The "brain" is fix on keeping the car centered in the lane. That's not where I'm used to driving. There are times when moving to the right, or left part of a lane is advantageous. When there are bicyclist, or on-coming wide-loads, I am used to adjusting my lane position to create a bigger margin of safety. I've come to think of the "lane warning beeper" as a cheerful back-seat driver. We get along O.K. now.
