Lane Keep Assist not working as expected
Lane Keep Assist not working as expected
i am coming from a TLX, where lane keep assist was pretty responsive. around curves and bends. In 2017 rdx it doesn't seem to be that great. has anybody had any exp with this? i see the rdx veering off and lane departure warning going off.
Of course, i understand that it depends on the bend/curve, but i can tell a day-night diff. between the two cars.
The car is still under warranty, so i am taking it in for calibration, but wondering anything else i should get checked out?
+ Alignment has been done also,

We had to get one of our 2017 Advance RDXs into the shop under warranty to have the system realigned. It was improved, but still not great. Overall, I think the system in both our RDXs is not aggressive enough to keep the car on track with even very modest turns in the road. So, I don't expect the car to drive itself unless the road is very straight.

Same issue with my '17 Advance. Lane Keeping Assist (with emphasis on assist) works fine as long as the road is reasonably straight. Toss in even a mild curve and while the system will 'start' to follow the lane it never seems to crank in quite enough steering to stay 'in' the lane. I leave it (and adaptive cruise control) off with rare exceptions.
i have an appointment with acura (3rd now)
1st) was alignment
2nd) was calibration
Tech who did calibration didn't even know that the steering wheel corrects itself (or supposed to). he had to call a supervisor to speak w/ me, who did agree with me that in fact it does correct (wtf). tech called his tech support line, that asked him to connect to the computer to collect data. maybe its just in my head. that atleaset the system should perform somewhat similar to the tlx
will let you guys know.

update.
got the car back; Honda tech line advised Acura tech to replace the front-facing camera. seemed a little better, but not as good compared to my 2016 tlx. I need to drive a bit more on the highway to do a complete assessment.
do note, the steering wheel on RDX is heavier than TLX, might be that torque sent to steering wheels is not enough to correct. I had rented a Highlander for a 4 hour trip, much lighter on the wheel. Lane keep assist on highlander was even worse bouncing from one side of lane to another.
