Lane Keep Assist

Lane Keep Assist
saw the following description from Acura.com -> RDX. Why would the Lane Keep Assist be affected by interior heat? Just curious.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

Uninformed guess -
The LKAS system relies on a forward facing camera and a computer that analyzes the video stills coming from the camera. This process is intensive and causes a constant release of heat from the processor (or other computing components). If the car is too hot inside, the processor can't let off enough heat and thus overheats and shuts itself down so it won't burn itself out. This is how the processor in your mobile phone works.
Another guess is that the heat could interfere with the camera optics, but that's not an area I'm very familiar with.

Yup. If the interior of my RLX is too hot, I get a message in the MID that the system is shut down because of heat. It's really no big deal, a few minutes of normal AC, or just opening the windows, cools everything down enough to work. It's only happened to me once in my ownership.
