Just drove through flood of rain with EASE in 2016 RDX

This vehicle drove like a dream. It was so easy to drive even in extremely heavy rain. I noticed some other cars having trouble (mostly sedans with low ground clearance). It grips the ground really well, excellent turning, and immense power. The automatic wipers are cool, adjusts speed based on amount of rain detected. I appreciate the heated side mirrors as well.

What's the fastest way to unfog windows? When I stepped in the car, windows were foggy. I pressed the defrost button for front and rear window/side mirrors. Then I pushed the button that recirculates the air so the force of the air becomes more powerful. And I upped the temperature. Anything else that can be done?

Didn't bring my phone on the drive to take pics. It was so bad I put microfibre cloth on the door control panel to protect the controls from getting wet.

On the bright side, I picked up Turtle wash and wax, Dry shine waterless wash and wax, and Turtle carbauba wax. I'm planning to wash then wax the RDX. Trying to protect it from water spots.

GTA, it's a massive land area. It stopped raining heavy now but in the midafternoon was raining like mad!

Recirculate and turning the temp up were the wrong way. Put it on full cold with A/C off and outside air to defog the windows.

Can't you blow on the foggy windows really hard to get them clear? Worked for Whiskers.

Volkswagon is involved in a $18 billion scandal right now that involves cheating on emissions tests. Audi, a division of VW is also involved. What other features of their vehicles are they lying about but didn't get caught yet?

We're just jealous that they figured a way out, but we have to reinstall our PCD and HFPC each time we do smog

What is this "rain" you speak of? I haven't seen any in a long time! I'm not even sure if my wipers still work - it has been so long. Wish you could share some with us out west!

Once you get rid of your spots you may want to try Turtle Wax ICE. It's spray on / wipe off using microfiber cloths. It's easy to use and seems to last quite some time. Once the RDX is clean (I use prolong waterless car wash, but you probably got a good one, too) it takes 10-15 minutes to wax the entire car with ICE.

Added: as to defogging your windshield I think all you need to be sure of is that you are not using the recycle mode - use outside air. I have found that it doesn't matter if it's hot or cold inside or outside the defroster works best (in any car) if you use outside air. Something you can also use in an emergency is a chalk board or dry board eraser. It will wipe the fog right off.

The heavy rain then cloudy conditions did wonders! It got rid of most but not all of the water spots on my car!

How many months does Turtle Wax ICE last? From what I read, they say a solid wax lasts longer than liquid or spray on? The simplicity of the spray on is tempting and something I may use during winter. Thanks!

No, I drove the car through the rain to pick up those items. Didn't get a chance to use them yet.

I have read that it will last several months, but I really have no idea. I do mine once a month - like I used to do with paste/liquid waxes.

I've experimented with several waxes and polishes over the years. The following products work for me:
I do a Mothers clay bar treatment in the spring, then polish with Meguiars 2 step and follow that up with Turtle Wax Ice.
The Ice is easy to apply and seems to last for about 4 months on my daily driver. After each wash I apply Meguiars quick wax as I'm drying the car. That seems to help prolong the wax.
I've used more expensive products but bang for buck the above mentioned products work well too.

Rocky, unless it's an emergency I strongly suggest you not drive though floods with any car. Why take a chance on ruining your investment? Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. But it wasn't an actual flood. Just really heavy rain. On a bright note, the heavy rained cleaned off most of the water spots on my RDX

"Defrosting" is exactly that... It is for melting off ice that has stuck to your windows. This is (usually) a problem on the outside of the windows.

Fogged windows are a problem on the inside because there is too much humidity in the cabin, causing water vapor to condense on the cold window glass.

Turning on the A/C Compressor and setting the air to recirculate will blow the cabin air across the compressor coils. The cold coils will cause the water to condense to them, pulling humidity out of the air. The water vapor that is on the fogged windows will evaporate into the now drier cabin air and get pulled out as well.

Really you can set it to pull fresh air in as well, but the effect is slower because the new air coming in won't be as dry on the first pass over the coils as if you cycled it across the coils over and over.

So, rockyboy, adding water to water spots removes the water spots. I think you may be on to something. THIS certainly should get you a nomination for a nobel prize in science.
